I'm using a G29 setup currently but maybe by next winter I'll get me one of those fancy direct drive wheel setups. I also like those Heusinkveld sim pedals. I was able to get a nice bucket seat at the junkyard. The gaming seat I have now (Corsair T2) isn't very comfortable for more than a hour of playing. I also have some Audi TT seats that are leather/suede in the attic that I'd use if they weren't in such good shape. Might keep them for a seat swap or sell to some Audi guy. I think the ultimate setup one day would be a motion rig.

I found this seat on CL for $40. I've yet do do anything with it. My fanatec porche gt3rs wheel is bricked (tried to do a firmware update) so I need to figure out if I want to see if fanatec can fix it or hust go with a new dd wheel. The pedals are fanatec as work and work great.

The G29 setup is mostly plastic and you can here it all the time and it's really off putting. It works good enough for the time being though. That's a really clean seat for $40. These are the Audi TT seats I got on the PickNPull labor day sale for $50/pair.

Been looking at fanatec dd hubs. Jeez, those are crazy expensive. Gonna call them today and see if they can unbrick my gt3 wheel. I really liked that wheel.

Just ordered one of the cheap ebay H pattern 7sp+R. Saw a YouTube review and I really like the all metal construction. Should be better than the Logitech Driving Force I'm currently using. We'll see.

Nice. I was surprised both the H shifter and sequential shifter that came with my fanatec wheel were crappy plastic. They do make a nice metal H shifter that converts to a sequential though for $249.

There are tons of options in very different price points so it nice to have options. The Q1 Simagic sequential shifter is nice and I do got my eye on it. I like the competitive market that's grown plus a lot of 3D printing options on top.

Thats pretty sweet. The gear display is a nice touch but useless imho.

Yeah, most of the time you are shifting without looking so It doesn't really make sense to have it. I like the other buttons that come with it. I would imagine that if I started using my VR it would be nice to have some buttons to use near the shifter that are easy enough to find.

It's a good thing I ordered another shifter when I did. The Logitech shifter I'm currently using is starting to crap out. The gears are failing in 5th and 6th. Also ordered an the cheapest OMP wheel to get something a little more realistic in size. Already have my adapter so a new wheel has been the only thing that's needed.

I've been eyeballing a couple full Fanatec setups on FB marketplace. Not sure I want to go balls up and spend $3k-$4k for used stuff. I'll put in a ticket for my Porsche wheel this week to see if they can fix the brick.

I've decided to go with the fanatec podium dd1.
It's compatible with my clubsport v.2 pedals and also has the same mounting holes for my fanatec wheel stand. I just need to decide which paddle shifters and wheel I want to go with.
I'll worry about a shifter and ebrake later down the road once I decide on a cockpit. I don't care much for the F1 racing stuff so it will be a round or flat bottom wheel.

What about the Porsche brick? I did some vintage v10 F1 racing at Monaco on Automobilista 2, I learned that I don't have that skill just yet. I've yet to do any racing where pits are involved. Or any races for that matter. Currently just dicking around in Forza Horizon 5 cause it's super simple to just pick a car from the garage and drive around the map and popping in for a race here or there. Not sure where I want to go race wise. I tend to try everything and ultimately I end up being just good at everything. I would like to focus on a particular discipline like rally or MX-5 cup cars. Seems like a more realistic way to be able to do both real and simulation racing as they seem more affordable at an entry level.

I might still do something with it. I may even try and hook it up and see if I can rerun the firmware. Alk I really know is that when the power is on, the wheel just vibrates with no turning motion at all.

Forza 5 is all i'm really playing but one thing i've noticed, just like forza 4 is whether it's street, off road, cross country racing, the tracks alk feek the same. Like they just cut and pasted a a street track and added dirt to it. Or cut and pasted portions of 3-4 short tracks and made it a cross country track.

Now I was hesitant about calling Forza a "sim" because it's really more of an arcade style racing game unlije Assetto Corsa/Assetto Corsa Compitizone/iracing/Pcars, etc. The majority of these games are more sim like with real tracks and very extensive tunings of cars. However I also feel that if a game has 2 good cockpit cameras, ie, wheel/dash view only, with a good amount of tunings, allignment, tire pressure, downforce, diff settings, etc. Then it could still make for a decent sim. More so if you're actually using a wheel/pedal setup instead of a controller. I'm using a controller and still have fun while playing but it's no where near the fun when my wheel/pedals were operational.

I did load up my Assetto Corsa a while back and it's still as I remembered it. Very fun, intense, graphics were tits. But it's not being supported anymore nor is RSR live timing which kept global stats on all tracks, cars, drivers. (click on my sig)
It still shows people using it but I can't find proper drivers and have yet to get it to work. It is absolutely a spectacular sim inho and they even had a license to lazer scan the tracks which were as realistic as you would ever see. I didn't get a chance to load up AI last I was on but i'm sure it still works and wasn't quirky like most AI.
    I highly recomend it.

Anyway, just rambling but for now just watching dd1 youtube vids till I decide what to do.

My son preordered Gran Turismo and I just saw that the GT Fanatec model just dropped $100. We'll see if he bites on that so he doesn't have to play on controller. It's just a level of immersion that can't be beat unless you add VR which I've yet to do.

Same. VR would be pretty fun. Are you talking about a GT dd pro bundle from fanatec? for $969?

Not sure which version dropped. I saw it on my news feed but didn't click to see which one and where to buy. I tried VR with FH 5 but it's not designed for it so I had to mirror desktop and it had to much lag to be playable. Maybe this weekend I'll give AC or Automobilista 2 a try in VR.
