Connected Services - Going Away?

I just read on another forum (not Toyota related) that some On-Star type services are going away:

As wireless carriers prepare to shut down their 3G networks over the coming months, millions of cars may lose the ability to automatically contact first responders after a crash. Some vehicles just need a software or hardware upgrade, but others—including vehicles from Chrysler, Dodge, Hyundai, Jeep, Lexus, Nissan, Ram, and Toyota—will lose their connections permanently.

If your vehicle(s) have some version of this, you should check with your dealer(s) to see if some upgrade or mod is possible. The CR [Consumer Reports] email said that some vehicle manufacturers have no solution.

Does anyone know if this impacts 3rd Gen Tacos? I have a 2020. I don't use it, but if it may impact resale value later, and if it's a dealer-covered item, I may want to get it done.

No, Most providers are finding ways of allowing 4G connections vs the 3G. I know honda has already rolled out a OTA Software update to address the obsolete tech.
