it is either super buried, or there isn't one, so I thought I would put this thread out...

anyone play in bands here? There has to be some Taco owners who throw drums or amps in the back and go!!

I play the drums, and bass guitar. Have been playing in bands since 7th grade. Mostly metal and punk.

Currently I play in 4 bands:
Go Robot, Go - drums - surf-punk, new wave, lo-fi kind of stuff. We used to tour, and have stuff released on iTunes/Spotify etc...

Fools Crown - bass - crossover thrash/punk band. Think DRI meets Pantera meets Minor Threat meets Forbidden....we also have a few things on iTunes/Spotify

Charlie Foxtrot Quartet - drums - old school swing and jump blues. We just do covers and play weddings, corporate events, festivals. Drums, bass, guitar and trumpet

Hot Rod Deluxe - drums - old school country and rockabilly. Basically the group above minus the trumpet and add another guitarist. We do A LOT of old hot rod shows, fairs, tractor pulls etc...the "youngest" artist we cover is probably Dwight Yoakam and The Stray Cats

would love to see and hear some other players!!!!

Is being sxe still popular? Not knocking at all. I never claimed edge,, but I def stayed away from alcohol and drugs. I used to be pretty heavy into the hardcore scene in the 90's 2000. But I've been out of it for a good while now.

it has come and gone 4 times since I started in 82...I saw Minor Threat live back then, and that is what got me into it. Early 90's, it became a niche thing, and of course there were offshoots like Hard Line, Vegan-Edge etc...I never got into that stuff, especially Hardline <- those guys were just posers, sort of like Nazi-skins.

    I have always been into HC....early 80's DC, Midwest and Boston scenes; also loved what came out of the West Coast led by 7 Seconds, but wa also into regular hardcore as well...I just didn't do all the substance abuse. Got into the early 90's stuff, what i call the "2nd wave sXe" like Gorilla Biscuits, Slapshot, GCF....LOVED the late 90's Scandinavian sXe stuff like Vitamin X, DS-13;

I still play in a crossover/thrash band...80's influenced b/c that is when we were all teens. I still love all forms of underground punk and metal...short, fast and loud!!!

I've been playing in bands for several decades. I'm a keyboard guy, and also play bad guitar. Mostly classic rock, country, blues and Motown. It was just weekend bar bands in the Midwest.

Covid has wrecked most venues, and of course the bar/restaurant biz is suffering. In the last 15 years the dang $100 DJ has been a hard competitor in small towns.

I ran a jam for the last 6 years, it was "gig light". Sometimes it was magic, sometimes it was tragic.

I grew up in the SF bay area. In the 80's and 90's all the bands would come through here not to mention all the LA bands like NOFX, DI and Social D would play a lot because of how geographically close they were. Very much into European Black and Death Metal nowadays. But getting back to the original question, once upon a time 4 skate punks with no musical training tried to form a band. 4 of the best friends became 4 of the worst enemies (and still don't speak) just because one of us kept stopping. Stop stopping! You stopped! FU! Pow! Biff! Ugh!

From 1990-1995 we absolutely busted our ass, and were one of the best things going, simply because we made big strides to act professional. We had a set list and stuck to it. Unless you have patter or something going on, 15 seconds between songs is too long. Break a string? If you didn't have a tuned backup within reach, we had several planned things to do/say for filler (social drink, anyone here from XXX, etc).

We always played 4 hour gigs, had a reliable 45 minute set, 10 minute break for the band, then 5 minutes onstage tuning, 15 minute total break every time. The sound guy would look at the crowd, if the audience varied greatly from our preferred demographic, sound guy would play their music on break.

We owned our trailer/lights/tri-amped PA. We allowed three hours to set up, rarely needed it, but were never late to start.

I was looking over old schedules recently. Once we played every Friday and every Saturday for 10 months in a row, with two nights off (and we still practiced every Wednesday). We had no delusions of being rich and famous, this was all in addition to everyone working at least 40 hour a week jobs.

Because this was the Midwest, and no major tourism/new audience involved, we figured a rotation of 6 weeks was good for a venue. We got paid from $600-$1200 a gig.

Now we are a bunch of old guys wearing rock 'n roll clothes, sitting around mumbling about the good old days...

I’ve played bass in bands for the last 25 years. Still gig pretty much every weekend, everything from dive bars to big festivals and touring. My main band for the past 10 years is the Sixty Grit Band which does original roots, rock, soul, kinda everything. I play in a busy cover band too that does rock n roll from the ‘50s all the way to current stuff.

I used to fit all the PA shit and all my bass stuff under a tonneau (basses in the cab), but now have a camper shell, which lets me carry way more.
