That one is a little more than I want to spend. I don't know why I didn't think of this before, there is a camera store not far from me (all they do is camera/video). They want the same amount for the 55-250 that BestBuy does. I can also signup for classes there.

 

Went to the camera store after work today. The person behind the counter recommended the Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC
There was a $50 instant rebate. I bought a filter for it. It came with a lens hood and I also signed up for the DSLR beginner class.
All of that was less than the Canon lens.

 

One more week!

 

is it 110v there or is it the high voltage? might need a different charging cord or adapter..etc...

 

It's 220V and the outlets are different. The electronics I'm bringing with me will work with the higher voltage. I just needed a plug adapter. Bought this one.

I went to a DSLR class and the instructor said I should bring two lenses.
The Canon 10-18 and the Tamron 18-200.
I'll be taking a lot of bad photos and hopefully some good. I'll go through them once I get home.

 

If I have to rely on just a few lenses I get better use of wide angle for artistic photos but one really good long lens such as a 100-300 is useful for compressing scenes.

I had an awesome time apart from my travel partners (sister and her boyfriend). I'm definitely going again, but this time, by myself.
I took some good pictures but not nearly as many as I wanted to because I didn't get to see some stuff.

I'll have to find the pictures, they are on another computer (which is apart right now getting a refresh). I thought for a second that I lost them because I searched and couldn't find them. Yes, I have multiple backups. When I get my main computer back up and running, I'll have a new backup plan so stuff is easier to find.

 

Bite the bullet and backup to the cloud (“they” already have your sensitive data).

 

Some of them were backed up to the cloud but I forgot where they went (Google, Apple or WD Backup).
I had one copy on my computer, one in the cloud, one on a portable HDD and one on my NAS device. The NAS device was giving me problems so I got rid of it (getting a new one).
"3 is 2, 2 is 1, 1 is none." I understand the methodology but I need to keep better track of things, hence the refresh.

 

I went to Ireland a few years ago. Seriously, one of the best destination's I've visited. Definitely would be interested in seeing some pics when you get the chance to share some..
