Grabbed some heater hose from work today and will be doing this soon on my '21. Cool little mod.

I did mine last summer after I got my certified taco. You would think this has been a problem on 3rd gens (mine 2016) Toyota would make the hose 8” longer and resolve the issue for those who do not subscribe and read Tacoma world.

Easy mod. Did this to my 2nd Gen and now 3rd Gen. Drains well, no complaints. If I remember, I'll post a picture tomorrow.

They do it so by the time your warranty is up they get you in for service and then you pay for it.

Just did this mod, thoughts on placement? I'm not 100% sure this is the best location but I don't think it will hit the moving parts and it vents low.

I'd route it a little differently with the drain hose fed through the rear engine/transmission cross member, and out the rear LCA attachment. There's ~1" holes on the inside of the cross member to feed the tube into. I'll take a picture and post in a bit when my truck is back in the driveway later today.

On second thought, post #821 has the routing I just described clearly illustrated. The only thing I did differently is used a brass 2x male 3/8" coupler (HFT air line adapter) to make the connection to the stock drain.

Thanks JMAC, I'll take a look at that post and route that way. I appreciate the guidance.

Has anyone thought out about putting a screen on the end of the hose extension to prevent clogs?

Does the tubing have to be resistant to heat? i.e. heater hose or similar?

I have to laugh at all this attention to that drain issue causing rust. I just coated the frame with cosmoline 2 years ago, especially well in that area. What do you know...after 2 years not a smidgeon of rust showing, plus it deters any frame rust from the nasty salty winters here.
