    I honestly don't think there's much difference between any of them. ECGS is willing to give a 5 year parts and labor warranty on all of them. You'd have to think a company like theirs would have a preference if there were serious real world differences in performance and reliability

    Don’t forget that if you are buying cheap parts in bulk, its often more economical to procure with the assumption that 10-15% of them would be consumed in warranty replacements. If your profit margins are big enough that the 10-15% warranty replacement is insignificant it would still make financial sense to go with the cheaper supplier than one that demands a higher price due to stricter quality controls. This is a very common practice in any industry that deals in bulk goods.

    The concept you mention is sound but your application far too broad. Many industries could never abide a 10-15% fail rate, for instance the aircraft industry where the acceptable failure rate is approximately 7 per million opportunities. While vehicles aren't aircraft I highly doubt ECGS would keep doing installs if they had to warranty anywhere close to 10% of them.

    1% failure is unacceptable. Last job I was at, 0.10% was too much.

    You have to also keep in mind the profit margin. For the aircraft industry with the amount of legislations, standardizations and specialty tooling the margins would never be that high and the volume is also much lower compared to the auto industry. The profit margins are incredibly high when you are talking about generic bulk goods - sometimes 150-200%. Of course there are expenses like shipping, customs etc but that is why you would buy in bulk shipments to save on those costs too. I am sure that if I were in India right now buying these same gears directly from the factory that they are made in I would not be buying them for anywhere near $700-$800 or whatever their wholesale price is in the US.

    Maybe you are right. I can only comment based on what I have seen in India. The actual difference in cost of manufacturing in India vs its shelf price in USA is mind boggling.

    I have scoured this thread and can't find 3rd gen manual transmission gearing. I am running 295/75 R16 and am about 600 lbs over GVWR.

    Nitro gears said to go 5.29.

    Thoughts?

    3rd gen manual you have an 8.75" diff regardless if you have an elock or not. You have a 4.30 gear ratio. If you are feeling sluggish, then your best choice is 5.29 because 4.88 really isn't a significant jump from your current ratio.

    All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
    @Texoma @JoeCOVA

    So I spent a day shimming (from one extreme to the next) the hell out of the rear to see if I could get rid of the sound coming out of my driveline.

    After all of that and using a scope (but then again I can’t run my truck to speed on the lift), I am now thinking it’s the driveshaft making this harmonic sound I hear on deceleration.
    I don’t hear it when there is a load/gas applied but when I take my foot off I get a funky harmonic whirling sound. Sound reminds me of when your pinion bearing goes bad, with an additional wine glass whine. It’s driving me crazy yall!

    Truck is sitting on stage 3 deavers and has alot of weight in it.
    I am thinking about getting a Tom Woods ds next.

    You guys got any thoughts.

    Your diff will sound differently under an actual load. Taller gears will inherently have a different sound. There's a TSB for insulating the rear body mounts to mask the normal gear noise.

    I would buy one or 2 of these and start bolting them onto things that could resonate noise https://www.amazon.com/Raybestos-H14355-Professional-Frequency-Caliper/dp/B00ABY5FMI ( google search "Low Frequency Noise Damper") Auto manufacturers have been using these for a long time to combat noises from brakes and drivelines. Here is an article I have saved and used before to help reference on a previous noise/vibration issue https://www.motor.com/magazine-summary/fixing-vexing-vibrations-march-2018/
