Life-long smokers die of cancer and spend thousands and thousands of dollars on cigarettes.

The need to have a cigarette is created by the previous cigarette.

You are addicted to nicotine. You can't cure that addiction by supplementing it with lower doses of nicotine. (Patch & Gum). These are programs carefully designed so people fail at quitting. Think about how much money the government and health care system make off smokers, and then ask yourself if any program to quit sponsored by the government, RJ Reynolds, or the Health Care industries are designed for your success.

So then, look at it this way when you're having a cigarette pang:

Your next smoke will give you cancer and cost you $50,000.

That should help. And stay away from all the "help you quit" gimmicks, unless it's reading a book.

I don't know if this will help, but try toothpicks. They take the place of the oral and manual fixation. Any time you need a smoke, fiddle with a toothpick. I quit 12 years ago, had to quit the toothpicks after about 2 weeks, lots of slivers and chapped lips.

What really helped me, or who, was God! I promised never to smoke again, and asked for help with the nicotine and the need for a smoke. I have never once, in 12 years, needed a cigarette.

    Thanks be to God!!:amen:

yeah, I've heard that before... I've never been a toothpick type of person... I always seem to freaking choke on them.

----- "Man dies from choking on toothpick... the toothpick he was using to stop smoking so he could extend his life"

But I did find pumpkin seeds really help me... I took those to work and when I'm really craving a smoke I bust out with about 10-20 of them and pick at them for a little bit.

Hang in there. Had a cousin die from lung cancer at 50, she was a smoker. My aunt has to be hooked up to oxygen because she smoked for 35 years. No good can come from smoking. I know some friends who went for laser treatments that work for them. Don't give in. Bets of luck to you and your wife.
