Dad's 2020 TRD Sport, new to him for about a week now, and the fog lights are a bit wonky (that's an industry term for "jacked up"). Passenger side is just bright but all over the place while driver side is quite dim, not just by comparison, it's just weak by any measure I think.

After poking around a few of the threads on here, I'm of the opinion that previous owner put some LED bulbs in where there should be halogens as the problem seems to fit. Also the interior lights seem to be brighter than they should be and the passenger side map light flickers a bit like it's just not happy for some reason. Again like it's not the correct bulb.

Took a couple pics. Can anyone tell by looking if these are the factory bulbs? At least that gives me a place to start. Assuming, of course, that my ancient laptop and I can get pictures to be visible...

Those are definitely not the factory LED fog option. So if this was a new purchase, I'd make sure that wasn't an option he got ripped off for.

Those bulbs are, to use an industry term "complete shit."

Checl your owners manual, the foglamp assembly takes, IIRC, H16 bulbs, which are not very good, with no real upgrade options. You could purchase earlier H11 based fog lamps, which gives you much higher output, and some color options (yellow/selective yellow etc).

There's also an in-depth fog light test and review thread stickied to the top of this subforum if you wanted to do some reading about your options in the aftermarket.

Ah ha! Just as I suspected. Really appreciate the quick feedback. Haven't yet looked at the other linked threads but I'm leaning toward just putting factory bulbs back in there to see where we're at.

I recommend reading the above cited posting re: lighting. From what little I have learned the photos which you have posted appear to be LED not halogen.

Check out this post, for putting in the original halogen bulbs. you need to know if your dad has the H16 bulb 19W housing or the H11 bulb 55W fog light housing (also refer to the post I quoted in the link). I have seen some posts where the H16 light housing melted when a 55W H11 was installed in it.

The passenger side flickering map light is likely a faulty LED, I suggest replacing both map lights with better LEDs. If you decide to replace the interior dome light, be very careful some have damaged a circuit board costing hundreds to replace, remove the dome light fuse or better yet the negative battery cable is highly recommended before doing that.
