Just sharing this in case someone in the future is looking for ABS help.

So my ABS light was on (I just bought this high millage 2013). The bearings were crusty and one had soiled the sensor and housing, so I assumed I had a bad sensor. I replaced the bearings (factory bearings, 240,000!) and wheel speed sensor. No joy with the ABS light, still left front error C1406.

The vacuum boosted skid control ECU is has a bit different plug than the one that is commonly shared here for the hydraulic booster. It looks like this:

And it pins out as follows:

So I tested pin 19 and 18 back to the sensor and so luck...each were open some place. I tested to the primary harness junction to the sensor harness and had continuity, so the issue was in the sensor harness ($63!!!). The outer sheath was hard to cut away to find the issue, but:

So, repair...only had white heat shrink to put on after soldering the break:

ABS light out, traction light out! Anyway, leaving this here in case it helps another person who just can't find the fault.

Two more dash lights to get out...TPMs and Service Required. The service light WILL NOT RESET (ODO or Trip A trick). Something is odd. That one may be a dealer trip. The TPMs is because the wheels are old, batteries are dead and off another truck...so new sensors will solve that. Done turning wrenches for a while as I think it will pass Virginia inspection now and I only need it to drive the dog around and take stuff to the dump (as well as winter).

It plugs in to the ABS module, that is connected to the break lines. On my 2nd gen, it is on the passenger side of the engine bay up top. Very easy to see.
