Last time I used NVG was down in AZ along the border. A line of 5 trucks running blacked out. Command forgot to inform BP and we came around a corner just as 3 BP truck flipped on all their lights and brights. Fun shyt.

Not always the best option, but that may be workable. I'd prob put myself through the windshield trying that.

Just because its fun and different, and its not dangerous if done right (hence the classes). Its really no different from off roading at night with lights, same rules apply. Dont go faster than you can see, big difference is just understand the lack of depth perception and close in focus.

Just because you can do something illegal with it doesn't mean people are.

For poaching, the gun shot is probably going to give it away more than running night vision. I hunt often and this is not something ive ever run into talking to other hunters or wardens since most people caught poaching are not spending $3k+ just for night vision gear then a proper setup to aim a long gun with it on. You're not going to hit anything with a regular shotgun or rifle and nods strapped to your head. If a warden is looking for people at night they will also have night vision or more likely a thermal sight.

Its a spot light and some beer, running contraband would be the bigger fear

I was very disappointed the first time I used nods and they didn't do the splinter cell sound, second only to my disappointment the first time I saw a grenade used, very anticlimactic. Hollywood is all lies.

Poaching around me is from the road 22 cal rifle no need for high tech expensive gear to feed your kids .

The closer the better to the road same for collecting roadkill.

Don't forget "silencers" are still loud as hell too most times.

Yeah, grenades kinda suck too. Def not like lighting off a 55 gal drum of bunker fuel in the movies .
