Adaptive Cruise Control

Correct. I expect we will have the ability to tweak adaptive cruise control in the future (assuming the code is within the ECU), but no ETA.

 

No offense is intended here, but you either turn on adaptive cruise control, or after you are running it and you don't want any cruise control, you can either pull back on the cruise control switch, or quickly push the button on the stalk to "turn it off". That does NOT eliminate adaptive cruise control, but only turns it off if you don't want it on. As you said though, to use classic cruise control, simply hold the button in for a few seconds and you will see the different icon on the dash, indicating that classic cruise control is activated instead of the awful adaptive cruise control. Still though, in either version of cruise, there will still be the issue of the dang truck HUNTING GEARS at even the slightest incline, thereby resulting in the engine SCREAMING as it ZOOMS up to 4-5000 rpms, and the ECO gas mileage indicator DROPS LIKE A ROCK down to below 10mpg until you get to the crest of the slight incline. I absolutely hate it myself too. I see some vehicles out there now have 8speed transmissions on them and I can only imagine the GEAR HUNTING that goes on with those transmissions!

 

The ECT button helps with that.

 

This is my only real complaint about the truck. I love the radar cruise but the overcomp getting back up to speed is VERY annoying. As soon as KDmax gets this figured out, I'm in.

 

I’ve always thought using cruise improves gas mileage by maintaining a constant speed. Kind of like keeping the thermostat at home at a steady temp all the time even when not home. If you turn it down to 60 while out then crank it to 70 when you come home and the furnace runs for a couple hours burning fuel…

 

I have issues with Toyota's cruise control every since our '16 Camry. My 2nd gen TRD OR was fine (manual trans).
I would prefer that Toyota incorporate a tolerance from the set CC speed, i.e. if set for 65 mph it could slow to 60 mph before downshifting or when going downhill allow a speed increase to 68-70 mph before downshifting.

Subaru's system sounds like a start.
