Truck Shuts Down While Listening to Music Parked

4 month old Taco DCSB w/1900 miles, OEM Audio with single sub. Immediately after a 1.5 hour drive, sitting in the garage in accessory mode. Listened to 3 songs (15 mins max) at moderate volume (34) and the truck shuts down with a message it is protecting the battery. 12.56V at the terminals with a DVM. Clearly it can't source enough current to sustain it. I put in on a trickle charger and it shows it 50% charged after 15 minutes on the charger.

I've read of others having short life battery issues, but this seems extreme. It is because it's Super White?

 

yeah it does that so your battery doesnt run down. if you leave your door cracked it will turn the lights out also (similar to the headlights)

 

My 2005 Ford does that too along with the light at back of cab... My Tacoma arrives in mid Feb, I guess it will too.

If you have an automatic, put it in neutral, set the parking brake, push the start button to shut the engine off, and you are good to go!

I should clarify here. I did not just turn off the running truck and the accessory power timed out. I turned the accessory power on after coming out of the house, into the garage and turning accessory on, cold. The fact that it dropped power and I received the error message between the tach and speedo about protecting the battery is what prompted my question.
