Below the first picture shows that my 900 square foot garage would take model SH-07.

The second shows the electrical requirements for that model number (the first line)

While I'll have to run a new wire anyway, this will work with my panel vs the ceiling mounted electric heater that would not.

View out the front window. It's trying to melt off some snow today. By end of day Monday it will probably be gone.20220122_160901.jpg

    It is :D

Started moving some of the larger things in today (mowers, tool box, etc.).

The backyard has plenty of room for activities. Gotta keep it on one side of the property due to the septic and leech field, bit still a good bit of space compared to what I have now.

The pumps required are very low hp. I think mine are 1/16th of a horse power. You can run that constant and hardly see it on your bill.

If you have N G. It will always be more economical to use gas

Right.. but I personally don't have gas to the garage and I am ok with running an electric micro boiler.

Coworker built himself a nice shop, large enough to maintain his farm equipment. He put the heated floor in there. I think a NG water heater and it circulate some type of antifreeze for juice. It sure seems like that would be the way to go. But what if something breaks below?

Boilers aren't so popular down here.
Though, this is probably what I remember seeing in several shops and my brain remembers them as tankless hot water heaters.
Or go to Bob Evans and buy a turkey dinner!

The sad part none of the kids close to me has ever asked if I had any work for them to do since I bought this place in 1989

I talked to every person within a few miles because if I wanted money I had to earn it myself .

Once I was old enough I did pretty much all the jobs one could do on a farm I could even do a decent job backing a 4 wheel wagon up the barn bridge into the barn.

It seems most kids if they need money now days just hold out a hand and it appears

Boilers are getting less popular everywhere. Most people want a house that has heat and air conditioning. Can't have central air if you heat with hot water...unless you have both systems installed for a much bigger HVAC install bill.

I scored my almost new boiler for $200. The peeps that bought the house it came out of wanted forced air with AC.

With that said, be aware that heated floors are an " all in" situation. It makes no sense to turn the heat down to50* if you going to be at work for 2 weeks straight. To bring that huge heat sink back up to 75* will take almost the same energy as if you left the shop at 65*ish.

If you can't use the shop for daily uses, the heated floors won't be able to be appreciated to their full extent.

A hybrid system with floor heat kept at 50*ish along with a unit heater to bring the temp up to a comfortable working environment would be the best. Turn off the unit heater when not present.

The Delta T from 50* to 65* is nothing compared to 20* to *65.

This is sad. I've noticed it too.

I don't believe it's the kids fault. Many, if not most kids now are raised by hovering " helicopter" parents.

Most parents are so terrified of kids being abducted, the kids are never out of sight and are so tightly scheduled for extracurricular activities, there is no option for the kids to earn a random buck.

Even though it's somewhat expensive to run, I like my oil boilers/hot water system. Feels much cozier than a forced hot air system. The "new" place has an oil boiler, which is also how you get your hot water. It's super friggin' hot! It also has two zone valves; the master is on its own thermostat so it'll be nice to bring that temp down how I like at night :D
