So I have Elka 2.5 and I’m wondering if the trucks needs to be raised or the tires taken off in order to adjust the height.

Most adjustable coil over shocks recommend the spring preload be removed from the spring seat/perch before unclamping and rotating on the threads.

A bunch a cool stickers, a bada ass MetalMiller Tx Longhorns grill emblem painted Hemi Orange, JBA long tube headers with o2 sims, Diff breather mod, Red LED interior lights, Fancy head unit that plays ipod n movies, Also DIY install factory stuff like, factory cruise control, factory intermittent wipers, OME nitro struts with 886x springs and toy tec top plate, JBA high caster UCA's for better alignmnet and dey beefier too, Old Man Emu Dakar leaf springs in da rear with the gear, U bolt flipper, Ivan Stewart TRD rims with 33" K Bro 2's, some bad ass weather tech floor liners so I don't muck up my interior, an ATO shackle flipper for mo travel in da rear wit the gear, also super shiny Fox 2.0 shocks back there too, all sorts of steal armor for bouncing off of the rocks like demello sliders, AP front skid, trans skid, n transfer skid, demello gas tank skid, and a tough as nails ARB bumper with warn 8k winch, I'm sure there's more
    With Elka/ToyTec

    1. Spray some wd40 or equivalent lube on the threads of the shock body, top and bottom of spring perch, and where the lower spring perch meets the rod end

    2. Raise front wheels off of the ground

    3. Loosen the set screw, then tighten it til you feel a slight bit of resistance.

    4. Using the properly sized spanner, make your adjustment to the collar.

    5. Best practice is to adjust the driver side collar to give it more preload than the passenger side to compensate for lean

    6. When I talked to Elka last, max spring preload is 30mm of exposed thread between the collar and top of shock.

    7. Tighten the set screw just snug

    8. If for some reason the collar skips a thread, remove the shock, remove spring, and correct the issue.

Elka said max preload is 30mm?! When mine was installed they certainly added more than that!

My rough country 6" lift coils were kinda a biotch to get top nut loose . They had no preload from factory. I've done two adjustments in last 6months . Might do another adjustment this summer .
