2021 Tacoma Off Road automatic with 15k miles. It was braking smooth and it still does in reverse and neutral but in drive it comes to an abrupt stop when slowing down. Almost like when you stall a manual car at low speed. Any thoughts as to what might be wrong?

That doesn't sound right, get it to the dealer for inspection, after all, you should still be under warranty.

My 2021 did that a bit when it was new but smoothed out after a couple thousand miles

Transmission, engine braking or tss pre-collision detection malfunction?

Best bet would be take it to the dealer and show them, have them in the vehicle with you then they can drive it to try and recreate it. Honestly, that is the only solution and exactly what any mechanic is going to do. Doesn't have to be the dealer, but it's still under warranty and they shouldn't charge you for looking into it.

It does sound kinda like a pre collision thing. Did you swap anything in the grille? Check the sensor behind it to make sure it's mounted correctly. Other than that, I'd say take it in.

Sounds like engine braking. ECT should eliminate that, and if it does, then just give normal (no ECT) time to learn.

But, you've got 15k miles. You get any tune flashed by chance? Some tunes can be a little harsh coming to a stop.
