I have a pair of the BD S2's mounted under the bumper on my T4R and I have to say, I couldn't be happier with the performance. The camera is not blown away with the light pattern either.

Funny I purchased two sets of these in the link because they were on sale, small and just used a 1.75” hole saw. The OEM 2nd. Gen. rear bumper is not flat so the nylon / plastic flush mount plate will conform some. Crash said the bulbs that he recommended were probably brighter (or something to that effect) so I didn’t think they would be all that good. Boy was that a mistake and I’m sure others are much brighter but I was impressed by these little shits! More than enough for my needs! I have them wired up on a separate switch. The hardest part was looming & hiding the single 20g (edited) wire in the frame rail behind the fuel tank. I drilled, taped & dielectric lube the grounds on the frame. I also called RIGID to purchase another beam pattern and RIGID said they don’t sell lenses they just have you destroy the light and send you a new one.

I looked up the install instructions and the hole to cut for the DD SSC2 is 0.1" smaller vertical and horizontal than the overall size of the BD S2 face plate.

Ordered the SSC2 kit but there appears to be a good wait time so I'll have plenty of time to get the dremel and cutting disc going.

    Thanks all.

Just got a set of flush mount SSC2's. Anyone have the red backlit ones on their rear bumper?

Just started going through this giant thread. What bulbs did you go with? Are they still working out?

    Hmmm,
My .02 cents is yes that’s the bulbs that are recommended & install in both our Tacoma’s. Oh and be very careful bending the prongs as they break easily. Ask me how I know.
But even one of these (in the link below) mounted next to the license plate in the OE bumper (or anywhere in the rear) puts out twice as much light as a set of the bulbs. So I added a set to light up my neighbors house and the power lines behind their house. I purchased the little farts on sale @ half of what they are listed now.
Just being honest and now I’m going to get. :crapstorm:

Ok, just to clarify: you installed the Osarm as reverse lights which were brighter than stock AND you also added a second set of back up lights - the Rigids? or you swapped out the Osrams for the Rigids and the Rigids are brighter?

The bulbs are installed and they are brighter plus the little Rigid’s are wired on a separate switch. The little Rigid’s could be wired directly to the backup “Circuit” and I don’t think the circuit would even know they were there. I’m pretty sure the Rigid’s pull less amperage than the bulbs but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯…
We are in AZ so the windows are legal % of tinting I don’t like the dark tint on the windows. The guy who tints our vehicles talked me into a darker strip across the top of the windshield and I had him removed it for the legal % of tint about a week later. Our 15 came with tinted rear windows from the factory and the window tint we use is very very close to the factory.

Now remember the Rigid’s are a separate light and the funny thing is I highly dislike Rigid as a company and would never recommend any of their other products. These were fairly cheap and small so I thought WTH…
(Edit) The reason I don’t care for Rigid is the color of the LED’s they use (too blue) for my taste. They remind me of the junk blue bulbs w/ NO cutoff that many from S. of the boarder and kids in their Honda’s install.

    Good luck

They do, they use the same 921 bulbs as 2nd Gen.

There’s a guy selling $7 covers for those license plate lights on the buy/trade/sell.

    https://py.pl/1VRsPc

Bought a pair last week and they work great and I also replaced mine with leds so the glare was horrible before I added them

@crashnburn80 do you still have one of the HIR bulbs? Want to compare with VLED triton 921?

I don’t have the Tacoma anymore to compare, and have way to many higher priority things on my plate at the moment.

Who is the member here selling them? He could make a fortune from the 2015-2020 F150 guys. I did my own cheapskate version. Black tape over the top of the lens.
