Its a cold air intake. I was finding that during start up and shut down the air intake would pickup diesel from the exhaust. So I added hose to the intake and that solved the problem. I could have also ran it into the back but this was far easer and the cheep diesel heater worked perfect.

I've noticed the same and I've got the exhaust & intake pipes that came with it on opposite sides. Are you drawing from the bed for the intake or do you just have it propped in the wheel well? If drawing from interior, where did you enter?

I have a regular cap so I got a blast gate, cut the hole in the small cubby and ducted in through there.

The air intake in this photo is taking air on the top of the driver side wheel inside the well. It is just sitting there not restrained. The Drifter camper has a small sliding window that matches the rear window of the cab. That small window is opened about 4”. The heater ducked is flattened and warped with aluminum tape. It fits between the cab and camper. I just bend the end to fit into the window. I have reflectex that covers the window and has an opening just big enough to allow the duct to fit through. It works extremely well. The entire heater fits in a toolbox (Like the one in the photo) and is easy to transport and store. The toolboxes connect and are air tight. No diesel smell!)

Feels nice with no weight in the bed. 2" of lift from 22" hub to fender stock to 24" hub to fender with RXT option 2. No wheel hop, or bouncing. I am towing the trailer this weekend so I will see how the squat is compared to stock. It sat a hair below level stock with the tongue weight of 430 lbs and some firewood in the bed near the cab.

Only one good photo since all of the modifications.

I love the proportions of a DCLB with a lift like this, and tires like this. It really brings out the best of the Tacoma IMO.

My 21' long bed playing around after doing Argentine Pass. Fun time but could use a little more height. Sliders came in clutch a time or two.

There are name brand/high end ones that are ~1k and there are Chinese knock offs that are ~$150 on Bezos world. I have the ladder. They don't need a lot but they need a power source to heat the glow plug at start up (~10a for up to 10min) and to run the fan (<1a) once it's up and running. A gallon of diesel will run it anywhere from ~9.5hrs on high up to ~35hrs on low. They utilize a heat exchanger so they provide a dry heat. And if installed properly there is minimal CO concern. Both of which are issues with the portable propane heaters
