    UPDATE
The first tow was at 537 miles, I was told to bring it back at 1500 for the oil consumption test.

The low oil level came on at 1077 miles today, so it looks like it definitely wasn't just low from the factory. The first low oil light came on at 537, and this one was 540 miles later. At least its consistent.

Ill be driving a rental indefinitely. They said they'd call me in a week. If it needs a motor, the service manager said possibly 1-1.5 months.

Ill update when I hear more

A new truck would be ideal. Depending on how long toyota has it, I might qualify for a lemon law claim in PA that would require refund/replace. If it something that can't easily be fixed, I'd be happy with a new motor with a long warranty on it

Also, I'm sure it would take an unreasonable amount of time to get a manual off road in to replace it

Sounds like you might have a lemon. It happens. I would document and track EVERYTHING carefully.

I didn't test drive my Tacoma before I bought it. This is the 4th Toyota truck I've owned, and they all drive the same. I knew how it would handle and feel.

I checked the oil at 1k and 2k miles.

I didn't check any of the fluids or tire pressure prior to my 3300 mile road trip. Because I had just had the oil changed at 2700 miles (5 months after purchase, and it was free).

I had faith that the truck would tell me if there was a problem. OP's truck told him there was a problem and he handled it fine.

    UPDATE
I'm picking up the truck after work today. They put a new short block in. The service manager said there was scoring on the walls of cylinder 2, allowing oil to get past the rings. It sounds like just a manufacturing defect.

As far as additional warranties or service credits, I have to call Toyota Corporate. Ill give an update when I figure that out.

I've been in the rental for almost 3 weeks and I'm ready to get back in my truck. I appreciate the advice and sympathy, hopefully I won't need it again for another 300k

I don't think you're eligible, yet.. But like everyone said: Document everything. Even the names/phone numbers/times that you spoke to people.

I think Toyota did the right thing for you in this case. Your warranty is fix or replace whatever the issue is, whether it's a motor, transmission or headlight. You should be good to go now but like others have said, keep all documentation.

I agree. It was a huge inconvenience, but they replaced what they needed and gave me a nice loaner while they worked. Aside from some customer service issues, it seems to have worked out pretty good

I am one claim or 1.5 weeks in the shop away from claiming this. It seemed like a pretty thorough repair this time, so hopefully it doesn't come to this. I have all the paperwork, dates, and email just in case

Quick update if anyone is still following this. Toyota has been giving me the runaround for 2 months now. 9 phone calls and 4 different customer service representatives later, they told me that because I already have the 120k warranty there is nothing they can do to help me. I'm going to start the process again. Will it accomplish anything? Probably not. Will I do it anyway? Yes.

On a related topic, anyone want to buy a '21 OR?

Have you looked at Carvana, Vroom or taken it to Carmax for quotes?

If you really want to sell, don't wait.

Carmax paid a friend 2k more for a used Hyundai CUV than he paid for it, off a lot, 11 months ago. The turbo model with known transmission issues no less.

I don't know how it works in the US but in Canada or at least Manitoba if you do paperwork with Carvana etc make sure to answer yes if it asks about Major Repair Work. At least you're covered if it comes up later, even though it has Warranty.
