Cutting some stuff out, moving some stuff around and a lot of planning. Ruff stuff sent a couple wrong parts so add waiting to the list. Might back half it once everything is roughed in. Little reason to keep the frame past the cab at this point.

CALM DAYS: Dry weather will continue across Alabama today… with a partly to mostly sunny sky we expect a high in the mid 50s this afternoon. The average high for Birmingham on January 24 is 55. Clouds will increase tonight, and a disturbance has the potential to bring some light rain to the southern third of the state tomorrow. The best chance of rain tomorrow will be along and south of U.S. 84… most of North and Central Alabama will be dry despite a cloud cover. Tomorrow’s high will be in the 47-51 degree range.

REST OF THE WEEK: Wednesday will be sunny and colder with a high in the mid 40s. Dry weather continues Thursday… expect a partly sunny sky with a high back in the mid 50s. Clouds move into the state Friday ahead of a cold front and upper trough, but the air will be very dry, and most of the state will remain dry. A few sprinkles can’t be ruled out, but measurable rain is very unlikely. Temperatures will likely hold in the 40s all day Friday.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Saturday will be a cold and dry day… after a morning low in the 18-24 degree range, the high will be in the low to mid 40s. Sunday will be a mostly sunny day with a high in the 50-55 degree range.

NEXT WEEK: Monday and Tuesday will be dry… global modes suggest some chance of rain Wednesday, followed by dry weather Thursday and Friday. No sign of any extremely cold air next week as the pattern begins to change… in fact temperatures are expected to be above average across the Deep South for the first six days of February. No sign of any snow or ice issues for Alabama for the next 10-15 days. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

ON THIS DATE IN 1963: A cold wave was in progress across the Deep South. Birmingham dropped to -2F… other lows included -4 at Huntsville, -3 at Muscle Shoals, -1 at Anniston, 3 at Tuscaloosa, 5 at Montgomery, and 8 at Mobile.

ON THIS DATE IN 1967: A tornado outbreak across the Central U.S. was the furthest north ever recorded in the winter up to that time. Severe weather occurred across a good portion of the southeast and east-central Iowa. Two-inch hail fell at Armstrong, and over two dozen tornadoes were reported. Five miles north of Fort Madison, one fatality occurred from a tornado, along with six injuries. A tornado causing F4 damage killed 3 people and injured 216 in St. Louis County, Missouri. Storms also affected parts of northern and central Illinois. One strong tornado in Mason County killed one person and injured three others. Another tornado moved across the Champaign-Urbana metropolitan area, injuring five people.

Thoughts on this as a spare? Kenda Klever 33x10.50x17, 12/32 tread depth(factory is 19/32). $75 shipped. They're back up to $247 new. I figure once I get another one, I can put this used one on the trailer :D

On a side note, IM getting ready to put my 285/75.16 Kumhoe Road Venture MT up for sale. I have 5 for sale. 3 are at %75 2 are at 90%. one of the 90% had a sidewall gash so its patched on the sidewall but would make a good spare to get you wherever you need to go. letting all 5 go for $750. Nothing wrong with them just going to 35s....

I don't plan on running it unless I have too..........that's why I'm looking for matching spares for the truck and trailer
I figure that spare will be fine until I can buy a new one to throw on the truck so I can run a 5 tire rotation(have about 3K miles until needed). I will then throw the used spare on the trailer.

RADAR CHECK: A weather disturbance is brining some patchy light rain to the southern half of Alabama this morning… rain is seen as far north as Nation, Clanton, and Rockford. This rain will move out of the state later this morning, otherwise today will be mostly cloudy with a high in the 50-54 degree range. The sky will begin to clear over the northwest counties of the state this afternoon, and tonight will be clear and colder with a low in the 20s.

REST OF THE WEEK: Tomorrow and Thursday will feature a good supply of sunshine; the high tomorrow will be in the mid to upper 40s, followed by mid 50s Thursday. An upper trough and cold front will pass through Friday with some clouds, but for now measurable rain is not expected for most of the state due to a dry airmass in place. The high Friday afternoon will be close to 50 degrees.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: The weather will be sharply colder Saturday… after starting the day in the 20-25 degree range, the high will be somewhere between 38 and 44 degrees with a sunny sky. Look for another sunny day Sunday with a high in the 50s.

NEXT WEEK: A pattern change will bring warmer air into the state next week… highs will exceed 60 on most days. A cold front will bring a chance of showers by either Wednesday or Thursday… See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

ONE YEAR AGO TODAY: An EF-3 tornado moved through Fultondale, just north of downtown Birmingham, killing one person and injuring about 30 more. The parent storm was first tracked from near Interstate 55 in Central Mississippi. As the storm moved across Mississippi and into West Alabama, it exhibited episodes of rotation, but none were strong enough to produce a tornado. As the storm entered Jefferson County, its structure underwent organization. A rotational signature quickly matured, and a tornado warning was issued at 10:34 p.m. About ten minutes later, the tornado started to produce damage.

The tornado began along Chapel Hills Parkway, where minor shingle damage occurred. The tornado tracked northeastward across Ellard Road and directly over the Walker Chapel Road overpass on Interstate 65. It was at this interstate exit where the tornado began to intensify rapidly, snapping numerous power poles and causing substantial damage to a hotel. The tornado continued northeastward, crossing Highway 31, causing mostly tree damage along the highway. As the tornado moved into residential areas along Fulton Drive and Lykes Boulevard, substantial damage occurred with several homes being destroyed with at least one being swept off the foundation.

As the tornado continued toward the northeast, it paralleled Carson Road and caused substantial damage to homes along Meida Circle, Darlene Drive, and New Castle Road. Buildings in an industrial area along Carson Road were damaged, including a fleet of vehicles at Hurst Towing. The damage along New Castle Road was widespread with a few trees debarked or snapped half way down the trunk, and debris from homes thrown considerable distances. The tornado was down for 10.4 miles, and the maximum path width was 900 yards.

SUNNY, COLDER: Temperatures are generally in the 23-32 degree range across the northern half of Alabama early this morning with a clear sky… look for a good supply of sunshine today with a high in the mid to upper 50s. Dry weather continues tomorrow with a high in the 50s.

FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND: An upper trough and cold front will sweep through Alabama Friday with some clouds, but the low levels will be very dry, and rain is not expected. The high Friday afternoon will be in the upper 40s and low 50s. Then, much colder air rolls into the state Friday night… we are forecasting lows early Saturday morning in the 18-23 degree range with a clear sky. The day Saturday will be sunny and cold with afternoon highs between 37 and 42 degrees. Then, on Sunday, sunny weather continues with a high back in the 50s.

NEXT WEEK: Monday will be a mostly sunny day with a high around 60 degrees. We will mention the chance of a few showers over far West Alabama Tuesday… then rain is likely statewide Wednesday ahead of an upper trough/cold front. For now models don’t show any surface based instability, and severe storms are not expected. Rain could linger into Thursday before drier air returns Friday… See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

ON THIS DATE IN 1772: Possibly the greatest snowfall ever recorded in the Washington DC area started on this day. When the storm began, Thomas Jefferson was returning home from his honeymoon with his new bride, Martha Wayles Skelton. The newlyweds made it to within eight miles of Monticello before having to abandon their carriage in the deep snow. Both finished the ride on horseback in the blinding snow. The newlyweds arrived home late on the night of January 26th. In Jefferson’s “Garden Book,” he wrote, “the deepest snow we have ever seen. In Albermarle, it was about 3 feet deep.”

ON THIS DATE IN 1940: Alabama was in the midst of a long, severe cold wave. On the morning of Friday January 26, 1940, the morning low at the U.S. Weather Bureau in the Fountain Heights neighborhood of Birmingham was 1F. A Birmingham News photo showed the giant billboard thermometer at Avenue F and 24th Street stuck at 0F. The next day, Saturday the 27th, skaters took to the Black Warrior River northwest of Birmingham as the ice grew to a thickness of six inches near the banks. Nearly every building and house in the city had icicles as long as seven feet hanging from their eaves. The falling icicles were posing a serious peril. Suffering was widespread, and there was a serious coal shortage. A total of 361 people had died nationally, including three Alabamians.

    Nice fj60,

I had fj60 axles under my Samurai, I pull them out and went to fj80s. The fj60 axles are sitting, waiting to go under my other Samurai as soon as I get time.
