Man, I take a day off from electronics and this happens. It’s hard to believe he’s gone in a flash. Sniff, sniff.


I call dibs on his kayak and metal detector.

What if Hobbs is just off somewheres drinkin?

Maybe he just went out for some beers
Party a little, hiding his tears

Played too much beer pong, things got out of hand?
Looking for fellers to resurrect the old band

You may not know but he was lead singer
Two fellers on guitars, his drummer was Pinger

But I digress, that was so long ago
He gave up his singing, gave it to Jacado

He left it for martial arts, wants to be like Bruce Lee
He found him a trainer, his name is SweetT

That lasted two weeks, then he bought an old lathe
He figured with this job he'd not need to bathe

Creed showed him the ropes, how to cut and to weld
But Hobbs didn't like how that hot metal smelled

So he called our friend Tex, said please take me feeschin
He bought an old yak and spent his time wishin

That he'd purchased a motor, that yak was too slow
To follow the yoga gals wherever they go

I miss ol Hobbs, he brings us all joy
A good natured feller, not unlike Troy

But I think he'll be back, I'm certain he will
Prolly searchin for gold up in them hills

He don't drink, been sober for so long
Since he started wearing a thong
After that night of beer pong

Is when his drinking got out of hand
He tried to be lead singer
But couldn't stand from the drinking
Pinger was called to lock him up
Pinger's car, that puke still lingers

People thought he was doing martial arts
Turns out, he was swingin at the demons
Crystal meth messed him up
Sweet T tried to pick him up, give him a hand

After I showed him how to cut and weld
He told me to go to hell
I told him he better watch his mouth
He walked out still at a shout

He was a good fella
Hope he got his motor on his yak
I'm not sure
If he'll ever be back

of the working river
begin to glow . . .
soothing the muscles

cottonwood groves,
bowstring on bowstring,

COLORADO MOTHER OF RIVERS

When I was young the waters sang
of being here before I am,
of falling sweet and soft and slow
to berry bog and high meadow.
And held me in her lap and cooed
the willow roots, the gaining pools,
and called me through bright dappled grass
and called me O, My Shining One;
And shaped a bed to lay me on
and played the flute so high and clear.
And shape the stones to carry me,
when I am young and full of fight
for roaring here and roaring there,
for pouring torrents in the air.
When I am young as mountain snow
in crag and cleft and cracked window;
I call the green-backed cutthroat trout,
I call the nymph and hellgrammite,
I call the hatch to catch a wind,
I call upon the mountain track;
I call the scarlet to the jaw
as morning calls her own hatchlings,
call Yampa, White, the Rio Grande,
San Juan, the Platte, the Arkansas.

I'm sad
But I'm not sad
Hobbs is gone
Why am I glad

If vodka was water
And I was a duck
I'd swim to the bottom
And never come up

Old Hobbs destroyed his cage
Yes he did
Hobbs is out
But we can't find him

Hobbs is not dead
He's in Bobs she shed
If it snows
They may go sled

Why come for you hide Hobbs
From us Bob
Where's the gold finder
Why is he MIA

Well, if I was working. Or like knew anybody that still had access to that kind of stuff.

A friend of mine is a city cop near me, I was talking to him the other day about a lady we know who got a DUI. I said I'm not sure if it was your town or not, he ask a name, pulled it up on his phone, showed me a pic, and said that her? I said yes, he said that'll cost her about $15K one of our task force guys got her.
