Will this plate fit on my Tacoma with 3" lift and a diff drop?

 

As long as your lift does not change the subframe the cat plate will fit. I am not sure if the front skid plate will work with a diff drop.

Well, I am excited to announce the front plate is ready to be sold. I have all the bugs worked out and have a really nice product ready to go.



I also got started on a transfer case plate as well.

 

Looks nice! I’d love to see how this would look with a black powder coat and the covers installed. At least just the skid and cat plates.

 

I haven’t seen any feedback from anyone up North. Any word on the union of aluminum and steel and our nasty road salt? FWIW, I’ve decided to order (today) one for my 22 that should arrive within the next couple weeks. I plan to use some hard plastic washers to avoid the effects of dissimilar metal + salt.

Wife gets the garage, and I get the Chicago street. Had 3 cats unwillingly and surgically removed from my 4Runner over the last 15 years, so this plate will be going on the minute the truck arrives. Looks like a great product.

 

Am I crazy to think that this might also improve aerodynamics at highway speeds a little bit, or at least reduce some drag/lift?

 

Would anyone with RCI front skid plate post a picture with this product installed? Looks promising, TIA.

 

This is a 4 runner with RCI skids.

Thanks for the link! My guess it should work fine and yes, I already have the RCI front skid plate installed last year. I think I will go ahead order and maybe make a video instruction or photo instructions for rci skid plate with Talon's cat protector.

 

I wonder how this "cat protector" would compare to other 1/4" aluminum "skid plates" as a both a cat protector and a skid plate? I totally understand that when it comes to skid plates steel is superior to aluminum, but for protection against the occasional "wack" from a rock, would this work?

 

It appears to be dual purpose. Being 1/4" aluminum it will suffice for most people. There are pro's and con's when it comes to Aluminum vs Steel, just depends on your needs. His site does say "also strong enough to function as an off-road skid plate", which makes sense since he is also offering a front skid and looks like a transfer case plate is also in the works.

 

My RCI skid plate is aluminum as well and I thought it was an upgrade from the standard skid plate from Toyota (non TRD PRO model)...

 

Talon2006, as I am new member to TW I didn't notice that you're a vendor on the forum until yesterday. I had reached out to you separately via your website about a CC protector to cover the rear CAT on my 2013 DC, 4 cylinder. My Tacoma already has your plate installed that protects the front CC. I look forward to updates on your project to produce a plate that protect the rear CC on the 4 cylinder.

I know it's only been a minute since you've released the front skid plates. Do you happen to have an approximate weight? I'm pretty sure I'm in for a front skid and the cat plate (it needs a name/title on the website) either way. I'm also happy to beta test anything you'd like or take cosmetic blems.

Just ordered the catalytic plate for the 2022 4x4 arriving next week... The promo code for the Tacomaworld discount did not work..it was there yesterday but not today... I have not had any catalytic converters stolen but it something that is more common now than ever..

 

Hi Shaun, I received my order yesterday, thank you. After opening the box, I see 2 pieces of metal hardware that were not in the install guide. Can you let me know what they are for? Please see picture below

 

I installed the cat protector successfully with rci front skid plate. It looks solid, not moving an inch and I think this is a good protection for the bottom as well. Installation takes about 30 minutes with two people.

I want to say it is right at 17 pounds. In the box ready to ship it is 20.
