Got a 2017 with 6 speed manual transmission 4x4 .... i changed out with the ECBS bushing back when i upgraded my suspension. Mileage wise its about time to change diff/transfer case/ etc fluids and was wondering if it the same change interval with the front diff and the Lucas 85w-140 diff oil i have in the front diff? Every 30,000 miles correct?

    Sounds about right.

FWIW, I did my diffs at about 15k. The rear was almost new looking and front was disgusting, I was quite shocked actually. I used red line synthetic fluid, so from now on I’ll be doing it every 30-40k or so.

With the much smaller capacity and since the spiders are always spinning in there, the front should be changed with the rear.

I swapped early and checking mine at 30k. Fresh looking fluid came out. Later when I did the bushing, fresh stuff came out the front also. So, I am planning on 50k to 60k intervals going forward.

Note that a person that I know got some new gears and used that heavy lube. He was unimpressed with the extra drag that could be felt and also saw reduced mileage. His plan was to run it for the break in then swap over to standard 75w-90.

Also, the early 3rd Gens have a front diff temp sensor. You might be surprised to hear that it goes north of 200F in normal driving.

Been running Amsoil severe gear—- bought the truck used in 2017 with 6599 on the clock… now getting close to 36000 miles so ready to change all driveline fluids…. I changed them when I purchased just so I could get the break in metals out

I just did both my diffs, manual Trans and transfer case for the first time at 125k, all the fluids looked almost new, it was a pleasant surprise.

Why the LSD tube? Your truck has a open diff.

should clarify the LSD is an additive to the fluid, seen it also in several blogs

Yeah. I know what it is. Just find it strange that for anty reason something would call for it in our rear diff. I just go with 85-140w per ECGS because that's what they recommend when I ordered my 5.29s

Agreed. Don't see why you would want a friction modifier.

Is there an approximate cost to have the oil changed in both front and back?

Diy under $100 and maybe a hour or 2 of your time. A shop probably 3-400. Guessing as I don't let a shop touch anything I can do myself
