    Watching this video makes me wonder how our trucks would fair with side impacts and hitting a pole with rock sliders?

    well it can go 1 of 2 ways:

    1) changes nothing. since the steel is still soft enough to bend.
    2) might influence rolling into the pole. where the slider resists bending, but due to their low location on the truck, the cab and everything above will start to torque over/ roll over into the post due to the momentum of the crash.

    The sliders will bend, absorbing a great deal of the crash energy and directing it to the frame, away from the cab: http://www.toyota120.com/forum/showpost.php?p=173590&postcount=1045

    So yes, sliders are needed for safety especially if you have an Access Cab with no fixed B-pillar :laughing:

    If you had a stock bumper on you truck, ask yourself, will I use the winch and tow points on this one?
    No= go back to a stock bumper
    Yes= go for it..

    IMO everytime you change or modify your truck it goes down in value.
    My truck is worth about $13.54 and that is with tax. lol.

    I have yeah. the guy at the Burlington shop i believe still has the matching rear bumper for it as well.
    It's more or less what i run atm (SSO slimline) where it's a hybrid/ 2 stage bumper. you can get the low profile, and then pick up high clearance wings afterwards. the issue i have with it (IDK if they changed it) but the precut holes are always there. i think they supply plates to cover them.
    IIRC it's also a tab bit lighter. but how good it is in full use, no idea.
