    Hi everyone,

I'm new to trucks and towing, I've always towed a smaller trailer with a Honda CRV.

I was under the impression that since it has a towing package that a trailer with e brakes would brake when my truck braked but that's not the case, is it? Do I need a brake controller?

Yes you have to buy your own controller

The plug & wiring up to the front(under dash) is there. You have to pick/buy a controller & have it installed. Then adjust to the trailer.

Unless your trailer has its own electronic brake system, which ours does. However, we disabled it and added a brake controller so that we have the “emergency brake” option which is only in the brake controller.
