But, KTJO 4x4 :puke: will not go out of business by shear force of failing up.

    Profit by ineptitude?

Dear KTJO survivors (and the HUD-curious), this pains me a bit, but I must in all honestly submit this fairly positive review of my now functioning HUD setup. Yup, it works. My 2018 (w/ Tech package if that makes a difference) uses the newly delivered adaptor cable that hooks under the steering column. It was a 2-min install, literally remove cover, plug and pray.

Here's a night-time image of the display. It's a bit bright, but other than changing to MPH (what are K's anyway?) I have not changed any default settings. This thing is very nice. Boots quickly, updates quickly unlike the GPS-based units I've seen that have a 2-3 second delay. It has a multi color LED display (white, blue, red, yellow, maybe more?) It shows speed, tach, handbrake, door ajar (all 4 locations, not just one light) also blinker/indicator status. One can drive safely relying solely on the HUD display. Seriously. It delivers. PS- the bowl lighting is the best interior MOD I've added... except maybe the Android headhunt. But that's another thread.

Were you not able to get it to work without the additional harness? I have a 2018 as well and I emailed her about that. She said the original connection should be fine.

Are you hearing the noise that others have mentioned? If yes, does the noise persist even after the ignition is turned off?

It should be noted that I also have the remote start, speedo healer, anytime camera, and relocated the shark fin under my dash, so those could be causing interference, but it also might be a finicky circuit board in the HUD. :notsure: My replacement arrives tomorrow or Thursday. I'll unplug each of the aforementioned items one by one if, by chance, the new unit has interference too.

Alright, I might try to install this over my lunch break. Does anyone have a link to how you take off the steering wheel stuff? I watched the Rav4 video but my truck doesn't have the screws where the Rav4 does. Was going to start doing some Googling but been busy AF at work today. Figure someone here might have it saved for reference to install this POS, I mean HUD.

Turn the wheel 90deg in each direction. You'll see the screws.

The screws you need to remove are on the left and right front of the steering column. Turn the wheel either way a 1/2 turn and you'll see them.

The original OBD2 connection did not work. It would beep, turn on half the display and time out in 10seconds. This method (bypassing the OBD2 port) and plugging into the steering sensor(?) port under the column did the trick. I didn't expect the problem w/ a 2018, but yes the newer harness did the trick.

No, not that I can hear. However, I am older than many and suffer from 80's concert tinnitus and a slight case of tire wubba wubba. So I am not an ISO certified tester.

Yep, tote of shame. It doesn't leave the garage. It has my cheap loaner backpacking gear in it.
