So I got sick and didn't drive my 2017 truck for about 4 or 5 days. Battery was dead, but I was able to jump it and its working fine now. Ever since then, I have the "Check blind spot monitoring system" and "Check vehicle stability control" messages constantly on my dash. Wondering if anyone has encountered this issue and know if it's a simple fix.

Might want to check all your fuses first, I've seen fuses be blown after a jump start.
If that's all good you will probably want to get a network code scan done and see what's going on.

I thought it might be something with the fuses. Might just have the dealership look into it.

Before you do anything charge the battery. Driving it won't.

So I guess I fucked up somehow on the the battery jump. Initially I used a small portable battery jumper that I've had no problems with in the past. The battery was basically jumped backwards. I was pretty sure I had red on positive and black on negative. That didn't work so I went to the regular cable jumpers with another car and that's what got everything working.

The dealership said the battery was jumped backwards and now the steering angle sensor is damaged because of it. Almost $1000 for parts and labor to fix it and the part it self is $600. FML!

Your battery was dead after only 4 or 5 days of non use?? You likely have a parasitic drain on the battery or the battery is shot. Or possible your alternator isn’t working properly. You need to determine which it is. If that battery is the original you likely need a new battery.

I don't know how old the battery is, but I would guess a year or two. The original one was replaced by the dealership through warranty. I'm sure weather played apart too because it did get into the negative temperatures that week. My truck still starts up fine so I don't think I'd need a new one just yet, but are you suggesting a new battery since it was jumped backwards?

Have your battery tested. Most automotive parts places will do it for free.
