So I am on my way to lunch from work and all of a sudden..."Smack!!!". A large rock hits the windshield, apparently off of a dump truck traveling the opposite direction on a 2 way road. The last 4-5 new vehicles I have owned have all been smacked with a rock and cracked within 3 months of buying them. I must have the worst luck when it comes to this.

Probably no sense in replacing it until springtime after the winter potholes and roads are somewhat repaired.

Sorry, had to rant, steaming pretty bad right now...

I know it sounds strange, but i've had a deflector on the front of the hood for 19 years and have had 1 windshield replaced in that time. Some may dispute it's effectiveness, but it 's worked for me.

Az is full of dirt , gravel and rocks.

    Good luck!

It's bigger than a quarter and chipped out as well os cracked, so repair may be out of the question. As for reporting it, I can always just say it "just happened" once I do go to replace it. I would think if I report now and decided not to replace, they would deny me later down the road?

Yes, used this on mine and it worked good.

No no no.....pay out of your pocket to have chip repaired or repair it with the above stuff AND on the crack, go to a windshield repair place and have them drill the end of the crack and fill it with the chip repair stuff. I had a big chip I repaired on mine with a crack coming out the top of it on the lower windshield. I had the repair place do the drilling and filling and it has not traveled a bit, even with a bit of trail jarring stuff. I wasn't willing to drill on my windshield, that was where I let the experts do their magic.

Dude, please do NOT do this, even with glass coverage! We did this on all three of our vehicles at some point to keep from having to replace windshields, helping the ins co you'd think. When we went to renew coverage the next year they wanted to up our cost due to the 4 claims we had the last year. We were like WTF? we didn't crash and have anything we claimed. It was those windshield repairs we had done and charged to the ins co. My advice - pay 20.00 out of pocket or go to get a kit and do it yourself.

just happened to me last week on 95. heard one loud smack but didnt think anything of it, knew it was a rock or somthing then 5 seconds later another loud smack right in my face, looked at the windshield a little below eye level and there she was, a nice crack from a rock. luckly its super small so im not too worried about it right now

if its that big, id be worried about the integrity of the rest of the windshield. one more small rock, or hitting a bump the wrong way and next youll be wearing that windshield.
