I noticed that I have a slight transmission leak when I was changing my oil last time. I have 169,000 miles on the truck (2007 Tacoma 4x2). I had the transmission fluid changed back at about 100,000 miles.

Is this something I should be concerned about? I'm not seeing drips yet when I leave it parked in my driveway.

Might just be a the transmission output seal. I don't know enough to say to ignore it or fix it immediately.

But if you do plan to fix it, it's a great chance to also replace the carrier bearing, add greaseable u joints (can't tell if you have those already), and drop the transmission pan to clean the filter. My ungreaseable ujoints got too dry at 125K and broke the midship flange with it. Here's the parts I used. I have a 2006 DCSB Prerunner TRD-OR.

    U joints replaced Spicer 5-1330-1X
    Carrier bearing replaced Spicer 5002334
    Midship flange replaced Spicer C2-4-2449, SKU# 3304-262
    Transmission output seal Toyota 90311-40034

fix it. Last thing you want to do is run the trans low on fluid.

That leak won’t improve, it will only get worse and it won’t fix itself. Get it repaired. In addition you can’t see or know how low your tranny fluid is from the leak.

Thank you for the quick responses. Yes, this looks like an easy fix. I'll order the seal and fix it.
