    Quick question, Mike :D
Is it better to leave my 4WD Taco in 4WD overnight, if I know it's going to be below zero in the morning, and knowing I'll have to use it to get out to the road? Sometimes it's a little slow to shift in when it's very cold, but it always does.

    Oh for sure..
If you know it’s needed from the get go then go for it.
It takes time and distance to get it in 4wd sometimes.
i do it.. like this storm Sat.
It will be locked in the garage.
The wife’s jeep I don’t have to cause it’s manual engagement.
Plus after you drive it will be easier to switch..

What's kind of funny is one year ago, almost to the day....

    20200121_114747.jpg

I had found those FJ Cruiser wheels for $300, and I thought 17" would fit the lift nicely. I was going to have them powder coated dark matte Bronze, but that would have made them cost nearly the same as the SCS Ray10 - the only wheel I had really liked - but not that kind of money. So, the grey grew on me, and to DT I went for my birthday. So, it's free rotate and balance time, and here I am again!

    Good morning fellow Porchatonians!

I have to admit that I also like the black wheels on my truck - chrome on Army Green just sounds like blaspheme. That said, I do like chrome/silver on cars.

I'm struggling with no coffee this morning - have an ultrasound at 11 and can't eat or drink for 8 hours before. Ugh.

Thanks for the answer, Mike. Over the years I've received answers to that question, but they're all over the map. I engaged 4WD last night, sure enough there's 2" snow on the ice this morning.
Don't have to go anywhere today, but feel better knowing I can get out if needed.

Lots of rim talk yesterday. I am 73 and a child of the 50's. I like chrome a lot but after having chrome rims on my 04 Bonneville i am no longer a fan. Chrome has a tendency to corrode in the beading area and causes slow leaks. The fix is not that expensive, but it is an additional cost. On my Tacoma I went with a gunmetal color and a five spoke. I am still a fan of 5 spokes. Has a clean look and easy to keep clean.

My city is giving away free C19 test kits today, two per household. Drive through only, I will be in line. Then a little bit of pond maintenance, cleaning leaves off the top of the netting.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gals! I think it's what people call Friday - I have been all messed up this week for some reason. Like Mark, I have a fasting blood work to get to in a few, but I'm not getting out of here without some coffee!

The RAV NAV came yesterday. I got sick of all the non, wrong, and stupid answers from Toyota people. If I want current maps in the RAV4, whatever the manual says, whatever the salesperson told me - it is a dealer done option, priced by the dealer, and the best price I found was $174.80. A reconditioned Garmin 65 with traffic was less; so the NAV is programmed off the screen (it's still there), and the Garmin will go on the windshield. (edit - Garmins come with lifetime updated maps and software)

Work today but it's Friday, off for the weekend. Fix snowblower tomorrow and then work on the ebike. Bike is getting real tires, roads suck here.
A little narrower profile but a deeper tread that is closer together. Much beefier carcas.

These are going to be cool.
    20220128_065240.jpg
And a 4 ply rating. Real motorcycle tires, not bicycle tires. This is the way to go for an e moped.

I switched to an antenna last year. It's installed inside my house on the third floor. If you have enough height in your attic there's no need to go outside.

    Morning all:
That's a day and night difference in those tires Greg, looks like a good upgrade. Would like to have an e bike for hunting, but so far most places we hunt don't allow them.

Looks like you are well prepared Mike, so far only about 2" of light fluffy snow here and looks like we are on the outer edge of the storm.

What I just decided I want to know....
Can you rig up a cross bar and some bungies, run the tractor in the middle, and the walk behinds as wing-men? That would be awesome!

From my long life experiences, the bottom line value of jury rigged work savers is the fun of making them work! They almost always mean more work made for yourself than work saved.
One obstacle to think about is you’ll have three different discharge chutes to aim.

    Evening all:
And you guys thought motorcycle helmets were expensive, I just saw an article where a F-35 pilots helmet costs over $400,000, I think I saw a similar one that gamers use for $100!
Just joking, but wondering if that's the actual cost of the high tech helmet, or the inflated price to cover funding for covert ops. that the govt. doesn't provide direct funding for, remember those $100 toilet seats.
Then, they figure the lifetime cost of a $78 million F-35 is 1.6 Billion, sure hope they can salvage the one that just deep sixed off the Vinson. I'm sure they want that plane back and looks like they are going to attempt to get it, not for the $$$$$$, but so the technology can't be salvaged and reverse engineered by an adversary.
They are saying pilot error, wonder if that pilot will ever fly a F-35 again, don't know if they get a second chance or if they will be assigned to flying a spotter plane for the rest of their career!

While you're in answering questions mode...

I've got a 2012 Baja Series and a 2012 base model... and I like the base model height. Is there a way to remove the 2" extra height on the Baja? Is it just in the shocks? From what I could tell when rebuilding the trucks the only difference in the rear was the shocks but I never got into the front suspension so don't know. Is that all the factory lift is... the shocks?
