well, my season is over. my last sit was saturday, i had a doe about 7 yards away at sundown but she busted me trying to draw my bow too soon like the newbie i am, should have let her walk past the tree but i was worried she'd get into my scent and spook, instead moved to draw the bow and she bounded off pretty much instantly. hopefully she continues to use the same bedding area next year, if so i told her we've got a date in september.

Been there done that, many times.

A big doe is harder to kill with a bow than a big buck, she will bust you quick!!! As long as you learned and can grow from it, that is what matters

oh yeah, that is true. i'm not completely dissapointed (i'd be a liar if i didnt admit to some though) with the day or the season, i remember feeling similarly after my rookie season last yeat- that i was just starting to put the pieces together to figure this thing out, but ran out of time, and then shot a doe in september. I passed a few chances at small does and spikes in october thinking i'd wait for a bigger/older deer (now regretting doing that as we've almost completely consumed the doe already but live and learn) and struck out, messed up or missed every chance after that, so have that same learned a lot but ran out of time/chances feeling now.

all good, just have a while to practice. and fish. maybe it's time to try bowfishing, i have been wanting to try snakehead, havent caught one yet on a lure

Early November 2021. Watched a nice mature doe for about 15 minutes. Just feeding back n forth. She starts to come in on my 8 o'clock. Now, right next to me is a paw-paw thicket about 30' square. Now, she comes in on the edge closest to my stand and starts to walk towards my 12 on what should eventually give me a 15 yard quartering away shot. Now, this paw-paw thicket is so dense you can barely see the ground. I could only cath a glimpse as she moved. I already had my bow in hand and started to raise and draw so when she exited the thicket, arrow on the way. I barely started to raise my bow, she stopped did a 180 and skidaddled outta there. Stood about 60 yards away and started to snort. Pretty sure it was the same doe I gave a pass on the first day. Mature doe are nothing but problems!!

A little late season action. A north Fl deer, D1 zone, season runs till Feb. 20. He came in trotting at 15 yards from a thick creek bottom. I tried to get him to stop but he wasn’t having it. Took a moving shot and he piled up 40 yards later. I have two more sits and this season is a wrap. Cheers.

good luck! can't wait to get my girls out, my wife doesn't think they're old enough, but the older one jsut turned 6 so i think she's plenty old enough and will be out with me next season. i already bought her a kid bow that i'll be giving her this summer to get her started, mom'll get over it after she sees we can be safe.

We used to skip a whole week of school to go hunt with dad. Mom would write us a note saying we had the flu :anonymous:
