Just bought a roll up, truxedo truXport, $309.00 off Amazon. They’re cheaper versions but you get what you pay for. Extremely happy with mine, functionality as well as the look. I decided for the roll up because I see the trifold as potentially wasting space unnecessarily when you need to fill your bed from front to rear with items higher than cover (the last section of the rear remaining down).

Are you planning on combining with a bedrack in the future? Tri-folds won’t let you flip up more than the first section if so. If not, I’d recommend the trifold. My friend had a hard roll tonneau on his short bed Colorado and it took up an extra foot of space against the cab where the tonneau coils. It made an already small bed pretty akin to a car’s trunk.

I bought a Tyger roll-up awhile back for about $175. It is cheap, easy to install, reasonably weather-proof, and doesn't limit bed space when rolled-up. It has a rigid bar at the tailgate that latches in place and pulls the cover tight. It can only be unlatched/opened if the tailgate is open. I combined it with a locking tailgate handle and it is somewhat secure. Granted it wouldn't take a whole lot of effort to pull the hook-and-loop sides up and reach in, but it pulls so tight that it would be a challenge. Yeah someone could also cut it open with a blade, but it is a step up from just an open bed or a tonneau with a non-locking tailgate, and cheaper than any hard-cover I've been able to find. It's pretty low profile design, which is something I was looking for in a cover as well.

Exact same setup I have (soft roll/locking tailgate combo). I don’t sweat leaving things in there, I doubt anyone would slash it in SLC but I don’t street park. A buddy of mine in DC did have his cut open on the street over night.

I have the Bak Revolver, my brother has a hard tri-fold (not sure what brand/model). Both secure, but the tri-fold is stronger in that you can stand on it; the Revolver doesn't quite feel like you can stand on it without it bending. The Revolver takes more effort to fold away (since you're rolling it and have to keep tension on it) and you notice this most when it gets hot from being in the sun and is harder to handle. I feel like vinyl is a lot less durable than the plastic coating on the tri-fold as well. The tri-fold can also be partially opened for taller loads to fit in just a section of the bed while the revolver needs to be completely open. The Revolver is more low profile than his is; though I think a lot of the newer tri-fold ones are now lower profile.

My truck came with the cover though so I can't complain, but if I had to buy one now I'd likely get the tri-fold one.

I have no plans to put a rack on the truck , I did not think about the room it tacks when it rolls open.
I want a hard cover so when we travel I can put stuff in the track and not worry that they can cut it open.

I have a Roll-n-Lock cover installed on my 2017. it serves me well and provides security for my recovery gear stored in the bed.
Not the cheapest option but you get what you pay for.
I don't have a problem with the 12 inches of bed space it takes up, long stuff still slides under it.

You are welcome to come over to take a look at it if you like.
