I got the perfect combo for you; I like the way headphones let you hear the signal very well, but I hate how they muffle sounds you should hear like approaching cars or people when you’re out detecting. This collar style headphone works very well for hearing both, and along with this transmitter, are both rated as low latency - which means there’s no delay between when your coil goes over a target and when you hear it.
I use the headphone with my Equinox 800 (without the transmitter), and with the transmitter on my 24k.

The headphone and the transmitter charge has lasted me 2 days (more than 10 hours total) of detecting, and the headphone has pull out earbuds if your environment gets too noisy. If you don’t like the collar headphone concept, that transmitter will work with other Bluetooth headphones as well, just try to get some that are rated as low latency and aptX to avoid the delay issue and high sound quality.

Thanks! The headphones are a little pricey for me and I think I would prefer the over the ears as I find those more comfortable. But I definitely understand your points and will look for low latency headphones.

Volunteers needed at Manzanar for a historic archeology project

    Greetings!

You are cordially invited to help uncover and preserve Manzanar’s history. Our projects this year will be at the Hospital, the Children’s Village orphanage, and the Administration and Staff Housing Area. Work at the Hospital will include rebuilding a collapsed rock wall, removing brush and dead trees, clearing flood deposits, resetting building footers, and excavating landscaping features. At Children’s Village we will be rebuilding rustic wood fences, exposing building footers, and clearing brush and downed trees. In the Staff Housing Area we will be doing a controlled surface collection of artifacts and repairs to a soon-to-be returned staff apartment building.

    This year’s project dates are:

March 24-29: Spring Break - Hospital Area, 8am-4pm

May 27-31: Memorial Day Weekend - CV or Admin Area, 7:30am-3:30pm

September 2-6: Labor Day Weekend – TBD, 7:30am-3:30pm

We will be able to accommodate up to 30 volunteers a day. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old and be able to work outdoors. Volunteers must sign up in advance and may work any number of days or hours, but a full day or multiple days are preferred. Work will be conducted regardless of weather, so please come prepared, bring water, lunch, snacks, sunscreen, hat, and work gloves. There will be a port-a-pottie and hand-washing station at the work area. We will meet each day in the visitor center parking lot for introductions and a safety briefing. We will be following CDC and NPS COVID-19 protocols in place at the time of the project.

Participants will be emailed additional information about a week before each project starts.

To reserve your spot reply to: jeff_burton@nps.gov

Hope to see you at Manzanar – Jeff

I think at least a couple of days will be detecting around the staff housing.

Possibility. The head is still fairly "thin/narrow". But yeah, a possibility.

I'm very happy of the "long tail", if you get my meaning.

Stupid lizard though, about a month ago, I went to pick him/her up, my hand with lizard in hand was about halfway out of the tank, and something spooked it??? All of a sudden it tries to jump out of my hand, hits the side, and my fingers got all crossed up with the tail and I felt a "tug" against my fingers/hand (i.e. the tail)???!!!:goingcrazy: I was SO PISSED at what had just happened and instantly assumed the worst , but I go to look and the tail was still intact.

I still don't know what F'N SPOOKED it that day, but when I went to pick it up today, I made damn sure to be more weary of the tail and my fingers not as "close", if you will, getting in a tangled situation.

But yeah, scared the crap out of me it almost could have "dropped the tail"!!!

Other than that day, she allows me to handle her pretty easy and likes crawling around my arms and typically just eventually "settles herself" up against my arm and body.
