Not too bad on the main roads!

 

Pittsburgh had 446 bridges at midnight. Down to 445 as of a few hours ago.

TRUTH!

 

I saw that. A bridge collapsed over a ravine near Frick park. I think a bus and a few cars went in, but no serious injuries. Must have been a small bridge over a small hollow. Just Crazy.



From the local paper:"Built in 1970, the 447-foot-long span is rated in poor condition and is restricted to vehicles of up to 26 tons, according to PennDOT records. Port Authority did not immediately respond to questions about the weight of the bus."

 

Plans to head to the PMEA District 11 Band Festival tonight to see our niece. As of this AM, the show has already moved forward from 19:00 to 17:00 to try and beat the snow. Looking out the window (Accu-Window), I am not sure that will be very effective.

 

It’s the one on Forbes that links regent square to squirrel hill.

The one that was supposed to be the detour when the bridge right outside of the squirrel hill tunnels was due to be replaced in a year or two.

 

Stand by , they will need $hit ton of trucks to haul this away !!

Yea and of all days the president is coming to tour Pittsburgh !! He can now see first hand our infrastructure needs some attention. I'm sure he will use this situation as leverage getting the bill passed.

 

I thought the infrastructure bill was already a done deal. Its the social spending they are still pushing at. I won't disagree roads and bridges need help

There’s a school about a mile up the road from there. Weather conditions today warranted a 2 hour delay which I’m sure helped with the lack of traffic on it at 6:30 when it collapsed.

it’s a fairly busy bridge during daylight hours. I’d use it pretty frequently to avoid one of the tunnels here that backs up for miles every day.

Mike, you may be right . I thought senator Manchin nixed the social part and that nixed the bill? Or is there 2 parts to the bill?
