I've spent too much $$$ for tractor rentals, that's why I'm finally looking to buy. Plus it will be my snowplow for years to come

 

Well you can’t get a John Deere with factory cab and backhoe. The cab interferes with the backhoe. Kubota uses Curtis cab that would work. There are aftermarket cabs for John Deere as well, that work with the backhoe.

 

Those curtis cabs are pricey like 10k pricey IIRC

I think the newer Kubota LX series has cab and BH combo... call Kubota and report back to us.

Then I would consider a Compact tractor instead of a sub-compact.

For Arguing sake; Let's say a tractor cost $25k; lets say it costs you $500/ day for rental of earth moving equipment. The addition to your home, let's say it takes 2 weeks of ground work before and 2 more weeks after, that's only $14,000 (shit for $14,000 you could probably pay someone half and do it all without any worry to you). That means you're willing to spend $11,000 on a piece of equipment you have to maintain just to push snow???

Again my $0.02 but just doesn't seem worth it.

 

Your looking over 50k for the kubota lx series with cab, backhoe, and everything else he wants. Prices are insane. I recently bought a John Deere

I've been really happy with my Kioti. I'm not sure how or if the factory cab works with the backhoe on the sub-compacts.
They're compacts are supposed to be even better

that package without cab is close to 30k. B2650 is now an lx2610. He can go on kubotas website and build a tractor, it shows prices and discounts.

 

We dont know his true needs, he wants to buy, I hate the ideal of renting anything, even though I do it a couple times a year. I average over 170 hours a year on the MX5200 and if the house sale goes well, hello skidsteer let's purchase.

 

So, I had similar requirements to yours when I was looking for a subcompact about 3 years ago. I ended up buying a Kubota BX23S with a 60 inch hydraulic snow blade, and 48 inch Land Pride scrapper box. No cab. Not something I considered at the time, nor feel that I need now. Cash price was 27K taxes in for machine and implements. Financing over 5 years would have brought that price up to just north of 32K, so it was worth taking the pain and just buy it outright. It's not as big or as powerful as a compact obviously, but going up in size would have been more machine than I needed, and taken up more space in the garage than I wanted. And I haven't found a job around my property that it couldn't handle. I've done weeping tile, trenching, moved some big boulders, dug out trees stumps, moved boats and trailers, kept my 700 plus foot gravel driveway smoothed, and the main purpose of the machine, kept that same driveway clear of snow in the winter. I bought it in Alberta, where I work, for use at my home in Northwestern Ontario. Probably dealing with fairly similar winter conditions as you, although you might have more lake effect snow. Most of ours comes from Albert clippers or Colorado lows. Love the quick on, quick off system Kubota has for most attachments. Loader can be on or off in about a minute. Backhoe off in just over a minute, and maybe two or three back on. The snowplow takes just a few minutes as well. The scrapper takes a little longer setting up the three point.

Can't speak to PTO driven attachments. At most, I'll get a mower deck down the road. A subcompact won't have any issue with a mower or a front or rear snowblower. There maybe attachments that will overwhelm the rear PTO of a subcompact. But if a mid mount mower, or front mount snowblower are important to you, getting into bigger frame tractors may likely means not having a mid PTO for those implements.

If a buyer has the time and customer potential, the extra cost may be worth it to a get a bigger machine, I'm always a fan to have others hire me, pays for the machine and then some.

 

I saw a post earlier about SCUTs having Cat 0 hitches. Cat 0 is for GTs.

SCUTS have Cat 1 or limited Cat 1.

Your set up is basically what I would like, but cab would be nice, as the tractor will live outside.

 

Hi, yeah, that's Canadian cheddar. No sales tax in Alberta, so I only had to pay GST. I didn't buy a mower deck with it because my lawn tractor is fairly new. Think I just rolled over 120 hours on it at the end of last summer. I may get a deck when the Husqvarna heads off to that great green pasture in the sky, but I lean more towards another lawn tractor. Only because my yard is clay, so when it gets wet it's like a sponge. With how heavy the Kubota is, it would probably leave some deep indentations in the lawn. I still have ruts where the previous owner of the house pulled his boat trailer through the yard just before I took possession.

 

One thing not mentioned is what dealers do you have around. Dealer support is huge with either repairs or fluids/filters.
For JD there is no factory cab for the 1 and 2 series, only in the EU. The 3 series and up offer a cab but it’s a premium and you can get factory BHs with them. Looking at well over 60k before you’re done.
I never looked at New Holland or Masse. The Kioti makes a cab machine with more options than orange and green at a lower price.

 

I think I have JD, Kioti, Kubota and MF within 1 HR drive. There are probably lots of others within 2 hrs.

 

So I'm pretty close to pulling the deal with a MF dealer
I looked at JD and Kubota also. JD is the least expensive, MF 3k more, and Kubota is another 8k more. MF is the only one that is put together and has all the parts I want. JD is a loooong wait for some parts, and Kubota is in another province altogether.

Just waiting to confirm what exact engine is in the MF, forgot to look for the placard. If anyone has any input on that, that would be welcome. Here are some pics of the machine I looked at.

The (hopefully not) million dollar question, if you do not mind sharing....How much?

 

Going completely off the reservation now.

Not sure if can make a yard put, put tractor not.

Going to have to make a half shaft assembly.

The direction of the hydraulic pump is the wrong way for these motors so I have to turn it around and make it jack shaft.

Free tractor free motor might as well put them together and make something instead of having to drag it around all the time.
