I think solo or someone has some 60 ifs hubs you can use as parts

 

Like my old wooden go cart with a front axle. Just weld a pin to the center of the diff the metal and mount that to plate you have welded to your truck. Attach a rope to each of the old spring mounts. Then you run the rope through each window and wrap them around your steering wheel. Pulling the ropes give you left and right turning plus you now have a solid axle mount. Not only that since it only attaches a one point why not make that a universal and you have unlimited flex on your front end now.

12 inches. Talk about overcompensating

 

With 12” of lift, you can easily fit 2.5 ton front and rear steer axles out of a Duce and a half. Hydraulic steer, pump in engine bay.

 

Can you separate you brakes to each side and turn it into a true skid steer? @5nahalf has some tires for you.

As long as you use the truck to go straight to work and back, it will be fine.

If you’re stuck there I feel like your friend being a talented fabber/welder and you being you isn’t going to cut it.

 

Maybe clocking the engine so the oil pan is on the side would work

 

Mount a lazy Susan from the home store on top of that and you’ve got steering
