Recently got my grandmothers 2001 4x4 extended cab Tacoma as a 16 b-day thing, but with a truck being now closer to 21 years old it's had its fair share of problems to say the least. Regardless of problems I want to make it a fun daily driver/Overlander, any ideas on what I should do? have already thought of 3" lift, Arb front bumper, bigger tires. just looking for more mods for power and fun!!!

When were the fluids last changed (coolent, transmission, oil, brake, power steering, etc)? Belts & hoses?

Blow the first $2,000 on rubber bits, fluid changes and crush washers.

Sorry still new to this but I'm getting a new transmission for it so that's a separate issue but other than that the oil and coolat has been changed within the last 100 miles. I got it a year ago knowing that it needed tranny work.

check out the suspension. bushings. bearings. breaks. belts.

you want the truck to be reliable. dont want to have a nice lift and tires, but once you hit the trails, your lower ball joint fails.

My plan was to yes check everything out suspension wise and hopefully replace everything but not touch the struts until i get the lift to not waste money, Also once the new tranny goes in doing a full brake fresh up including fluid.
