    Ahh. My poor wording.

I meant that Renault had converted them for rally racing.

Gotcha. Yeah I like those retro 80s era rally cars. A bunch of little beasts.

Not aimed at you in particular per sé, just expounding on the idea....

I work for a certain automobile Club here in SoCal. We operate in 18 states, have 15+ million members, 8+ million auto policies and about 30k actively enrolled in an insurance discount program that allows us to track your driving habits via a phone app. At any time I can view every trip you took within the last 6 months, to include speed, hard braking events & distracted driving. I can pull up your location as long as your phone is turned on.

We have people call/email in with their tinfoil hats on worried about their privacy. Guess what... I, just like every other person with the ability, am too fucking busy to worry about which Piggly Wiggly you stop at to pickup your plastic bottle of Vodka and Hungry Man dinners. What makes these people think they're special enough for anyone else to worry about? Is it egotistical? Nobody cares where you buy your smokes or get gas. If you have any sort of phone (smart or not) then you're traceable. Any vehicle with GPS can be tracked. License plates captured by cameras all over town. Your face recognized by those same cameras. If you've had a bank account well then they've been gathering analytical data points for decades & handing that over to the feds upon request (feds get individual info, others can buy anonomous demographic data).

Go ahead and use only cash if it helps you sleep better :tinfoilhat:

My all time favorite saying to excuse or even encourage the surveillance practices of business and government is "if you're not doing anything wrong, you don't need to worry about it".
I am not certain that i an egotistical person. But if no one really cares what I do then folks are expending a lot of money, effort and time to collect data no one wants. You can make fun all you care to but in a time when outspoken participants at a school board meeting can be considered domestic terrorists, I find it all rather disturbing.

PS: Your tinfoil hat customers volunteered for the rate reduction program, their choice. Personally, I would pay more so that you do not have the ability to know where i buy my hungry man dinners and plastic vodka bottles.

It’s just easier to use a credit card for everything and pay off the whole bill at the end of the month.

I feel sorry for the poor bastard that wants to track me. They would be bored beyond belief.

I.e., well he went back to work today, he sure does go to the bathroom a lot, huh, Mexican food for the 3rd time this week? that explains the bathroom thing, damn how many times a day does he drop that phone?, how can he leave TV on MotorTrend all the time?, wow back to Lowe’s again?, this guy sure drops the F-bomb a lot, he better get home soon or he will miss “Iron Resurrection” on MotorTrend, I need to get one of those iPhones he keeps dropping, this guy sure buys a bunch of crap on Amazon, he probably needs to lay off the Mexican food and Tequila, finally he is going to eat something else, BBQ, really BBQ?, burgers and bourbon is a nice change, his stomach must be made of cast iron, this SOB needs to take something to slow down, damn does this guy ever sleep?

Lol lots of you same people would lose your minds knowing I have Amazon drop off my packages in my....garage!! OMG how do I sleep at night knowing they can see my dryer full of underwear & know what brand of detergent I use to get them pearly white?! The government is tracking this data and I'm a pleeb playing into their master plan. Good thing I don't let the drone pigeons nest on my property.

*Looks back at the EV/autopilot discussions* ah yes, I forgot who I was dealing with, sorry I misread the room. Best of luck with your efforts to stay "off the grid" in the 21st century

The ability to just follow anyone online when ever you want has all sorts of opportunity for bad outcomes. Think of an employee at your company that is in financial difficulties that posts on the dark web that they can track people for a price. Think of the hacker that enters through the HVAC computer system and gains privileged access. The problem as I see it isn't the gooberment tracking me, but the piggly wiggly, Target, facebook, google, et al, using the data about me without my informed consent and the general disregard many companies have for keeping that data secure. https://www.forbes.com/sites/kashmi...egnant-before-her-father-did/?sh=605aa0496668

All that said, privacy in todays world is a joke. I've given mine up as a price for living in this world. Have I gotten a fair exchange? Something in my gut tells me my data is worth far more money than the 10 cent/gallon gas discount I get at the grocery store.
