Leer and ARE canopies leak?

Im interested in a canopy from one of these manufacturers or possibly one of the offroad/overland specific companies, anyone here use these and have issues with leaking and condensation etc ?, Thanks

 

Typically the canopy is not the source of the leak, it’s the joining of the canopy and the truck bed, that’s where the leaks occur. The tailgate is the other source. A good installer familiar with Tacoma’s is very helpful. Do a search on here , there’s a lot of info.

 

Condensation is inevitable and has nothing to do with the cap, it's driven by temperature change. It's not as bad with the carpeted interior or at least less noticeable. I've had both ARE and LEER caps, I'm not my 3rd one now and they've done pretty well keeping out water but all have eventually leaked at some point either at the window corners or the corners of the cap where it meets the bed. I'm not talking major water intrusion either, I'm talking drips in a hard rain storm.

 

Ya thats what I meant, I didnt think the canopy itself leaked but Ive seen some good youtube videos that showed where they can leak at connection points, just seeing if anyone had any first hand experience with this

 

I should mention Im on the Oregon Coast where we get some serious rainfall sometimes

 

I don't think they're advertised as being 100% watertight. I had a LEER on my 2019 sport ac. The shop that did the install told me is wasn't going to leak, and it never did.

I just got one for my '21 dcsb 2 weeks ago. This shop made no such claims, and I've already noticed water coming in around the tailgate area. It's been too cold for me to bother doing anything about it. But I do plan on finding exactly where water is coming in from and looking into stopping it this Spring.
