Going through an interior restore after a seat fire.
    Hello All,
So - had a small fire in the drivers seat of my 96 taco and now when I turn on the lights the horn blares. Any advice on where I should start? Fuses look fine, wondering if wiring got melted or something by the fire.

    Thoughts?

Uhhhh yeah. Sounds like you melted some harness.

Time to pull the dash and :fingerscrossed:

I would pull the battery and not drive that truck im the mean time unless you're really interested in playing round 2 of that game.

"when I turn on the lights the horn blares"

Reminded me of those old Three-Stooges routines where Moe hits the light switch and the faucet turns on

Don't smoke boys and girls - especially if you are over 65 - my mother dropped a butt (thinking it was out of the window and walked inside - 2 hrs later the truck was on fire...

My first thought with something like that is that there is an open ground somewhere. It's odd that a fire in the driver's seat would do that though.

Can you provide more detail on the fire?

here are a couple photos - it stayed pretty much in the seat - headliner is toast but the electrical under it seems fine. Just the horn and lights issues so far, even the radio works.

I'd trace the wiring down the steering column. The horn and headlight wiring start there and travel down. Maybe something got charred in the fire or got heated up enough to melt insulation.
