Invoking the collective wisdom of this group.

2019 TRD Off Road. Mounted: 265/70 R17 tires on 17 inch rims. Spare: 265/70 R16 OME on 16 inch rim.

If I have a flat, can I use the spare to get to a tire shop?

If so, can I use 4WD w/ spare, if needed, to get to main road?

Finally, would a 265/70 R17 w/ 17 inch wheel fit as a spare if I decided to change it?

    Thanks!

Your spare tire size listed is wrong. That size won’t fit on a 16” rim

    Donuts are often smaller.
You could upsize the tire ratio to get same diameter on the 16.

I have 285/70/17s all around and 285/75/16 spare on the steele which are equivalent diameter.

It’s probably a 265/70R16 which is about an inch smaller in total diameter than a 265/70R17. 31.7 inches compared to 30.6. I don’t know if that would cause major issues for a short distance or not.
A 265/75R16 would be perfect for that spare rim.

Yes. The spare is 265/70 R16 on 16 wheel. Typo

Perfect. I change tire sizes, keep the spare rim. You guys saved me $150 to $200.

Make sure it fits the holder. I had to move the bracket to fit my 285. I’d bet you will not need to.

If its for smaller distances on mellow roads, could you just stick the spare in the front? That way no pressure on the drive line from the mismatch?
