No he did not. He’s handsome though. Since I did it myself. Haha!

I was impressed though. The rocker panel clearly has some thick paint.

I only ask because I took mine to two place to get it ceramic coated and both recommended against it after reading the paint at like 81-85 microns at the thickest point and 72 on the hood. They said that’s barely enough for a light polish and to just try and save as much clear as possible and never polishing it.

Huh. Interesting. Being that it’s new paint I didn’t have to do any heavy polishing so thickness isn’t an issue. Does your truck need a lot of paint correction?

the coating itself isn’t affected by paint thickness. I’m curious as why they couldn’t do it. That’s kind of the point of ceramic coating is to add a hard layer of protection.

After getting mine done from the get-go, its the way to go. It makes the existing paint finish look so deep, glasslike. I haven't gotten a single paint chip in two years which is something when compared to my old tundra that didn't have this coating. Done right it takes a lot of effort and time to prepped the truck for it with the paint correction and all.

yeah the coating doesn’t matter but to apply it, the surface has to be prepped. Need to polish it to make it perfect and smooth. And they probably didn’t feel comfortable polishing with such a thin coat

At least you didn’t get the call from your salesperson saying your truck arrived and then get ready to go to the dealership and then get another call saying oops sorry its an identical truck but its someone else’s. Yours is still on its way.
This is a game of patience and it isn’t worth rushing. The truck looks great! Congrats !

Yeah….. wasn’t fun. Then they tried to get me to pay more for the truck when I was going to sign for it after already reaching an agreement and a deal… I got it for the price originally agreed on after some hassling.

Man, and I thought waiting 4 days for a unit off the lot while they did dealer prep and installed a couple of options was a long time. (back in 2018). Times change.
