I bet I could talk the wife into a weekend in NMW, even if she doesn't join, I don't think she'd mind me taking a dog and heading off for a couple of days.

I'm doing a trip labor day weekend with some people already, wouldn't mind going twice and if I go I would probably have a +1, dude in an xterra. We found some pretty good spots, we went out to Ashland last labor day weekend.

Memorial Day and Labor Day are good weekends. 4th of July is bug city :( I can't make the 4th, y'all are welcome to. Just beward of bugs. Weather can be worse (hotter) up there at that time of the year but the black flies are the nasty part of it. Especially if you get out to hike to the trains or go 'yakkin.

Chase lights, and be ready for dust for any cargo in open beds. I bring extra full spares and chuck them in the bed, snowmobile spikes will get ya. Funny enough - I got a rock last time, not a spike!

Update, dryer is up and running :woot: Those things absolutely suck to put back together, specifically putting the belt back on. I feel like I needed another set of hands but eventually got it done. Everything is working as it should as of last night.

Dust in the bed, dust in the air filter, dust everywhere.

Unfortunately for me, getting up there when school is in session is hard, so it's got to be a summer week.

Lots of snow Saturday, so I made two passes with the Ariens 28" Deluxe. Very reliable machine since I got it in 2010. At the very end of the second pass I was clearing around the hydrant at the bottom of the hill when it stopped moving. Engine ran fine, auger spun, wheels just would drive. Ugh. I had to push it up the hill and into the garage.

I removed the pulley cover and after a minute or so found a broken spring. Another couple of minutes and I figured out where it went and what it did.

Ariens calls it a "Swivel Hook Extension Spring, but it's really an idler pulley tension spring. Does the same thing as in a car or truck. The problem being trying to find one a 9:00PM on Saturday. I figured I was screwed until Monday since every power equipment shop around was closed until then.

Someone on another forum pointed me to Boston Lawnmower in Westbrook. Their website said they'd be open Sunday at 8:00. I called first thing, they had it in stock, so I drove out and got it. Well worth the hour each way from the Brockton area. The repair took all of a minute and I was back in business.

Yeah, that was supposed to be Westboro. I hate the auto correct on this tablet. I think that they opened on Sunday because there would be lots of broken machines. That storm was brutal on machines of all kinds.

If it's a common enough failure point - have a few in your garage similar to shear pins! Looks like they're cheap enough to grab a couple on Amazon etc in the meantime to have as a backup.

I've used them for random shit on my early 90s snapper snowblower too. Last year I grabbed a new carb for my FIL's Ariens snowblower (that we bought from there about 11 years ago).

I can't complain as i got 11 years out of the original spring. They changed the design to put less torque stress on the the spring. It also seems to be thicker. I have a number of friends who have them, so it makes sense to have one or two on hand, just in case.

As you note, it's no different than having spare sheer pins.

I talked to the owner (I think he was the owner) on the way out. Seemed nice. Ge place is laid out more like an auto dealer than a power equipment shop. Good sized show room, separate parts and service departments. Probably 40 new Ariens on the floor.

I was the first customer of the day, but as I was leaving about a half dozen people pulled in to the lot.

Rescue pup came home this weekend; had a little surprise upon pickup from quarantine. The Pictures online did not do her Justice (looked diesel)…. Female Jack Russell/boxer/maybe chihuahua/something fluffy mix. Was 9 lbs when we picked her up Sunday. Housebreaking is proving to be more difficult than anticipated since we thought she was going to be 4.5mo old allegedly crate trained and house broken when she’s barely even 12 weeks…

My two have been bell trained. They seem to have forgotten since we moved to VT and we need to spend more time retraining them, but it does work great when they know to use it. My boys still ring the bell from time to time, but only if they REALLY need to go, I think the rest of the time they've gotten so used to our routine that they know they can wait.
