Am I the only one that didn't want to drill holes in my dash to mount a brake controller?

Designed and 3d-printed my own mount that uses the steel OBD bracket. ZERO drilling required and super-sturdy.

Also, highly recommend the Tekonsha Primus IQ. I think I actually picked that one based on a recommendation from here.

You're not the only one....but I don't want it hanging down under the dash, either so I'm buying a Redart Controller and since I bought a Meso left side panel that's maxed out on short OEM switch places, the single knob will go into one of those spaces and the brain hides out of sight up under the dash.

The bracket is a nice application for those running a Tekonsha or other similar unit.

you dont have to for the redarc. super easy install, tiny controller. not in your way, or hitting your knee or shin on it. Ski

That's a better mounting setup than what my Dad has in his, he's often hitting his knee on the control box because of where he put it

I don't tow often, so having a low profile setup was the most important factor to me. Redarc sells plastic insert pieces for the control knob mount that fit both the tall and short OEM switch slots, so I'll also be able to swap it over when I eventually replace the whole switch panel with short switches

Kinda like the re-assurance of seeing the #'s rising on the Primus to show braking energy. Is there any indication on the redarc, or just the knob?

There is ring of led lights that shows braking energy.

edit: I’ve got the Redarc Liberty in a tall switch under the cubby. Unit is mounted to a support behind the cubby

Like the post below you says...the redarc has the ring that shows it.

I have the redarc on the 4Runner. It's a nice piece of kit, very clean install, but I still like the Primus. The numbers and the manual brake button are more user friendly I think.

I was going to get a redarc for my Tacoma too but I think I'll stick with the Primus from my old truck. Won't look as nice but I like the way it works better and will save $$$

OP - Nice clean install. I hate drilling holes in a dash of anything.

I went Redarc with a 3D printed dash plug. Terrible picture a bit over exposed.

Redarc for me also, easy install with No Drilling. I bought the after market Redarc switch cover pre drilled.

Didn’t want to drill holes or have things hanging in the way to get kicked. Went Redarc as well for that reason.
