I really regret not taking more trades classes in middle school and high school.

Our middle school had everyone take the intro tech end and home ec classes. Baking, sewing, wood shop, and metal shop. Metal was just sheet metal stuff, though--I think you had to take the high school classes to get welding.

Sewing is the only one that seems to have stuck. I'm in the middle of alerting some curtains right now.

Well even if you did wheel, these trucks do plenty in stock form.

I probably wouldn't go as far as doing a shock relocation as a means to start welding, but you can start off with fun, tiny projects.

It can be easily discouraging, especially if you're trying to run a long bead on something and you start messing up right away. That's why you cut 'coupons' and do small joints to start.

For sure. I know I'm not the only one here who gets as much enjoyment from learning about the truck and its quirks and opportunities than from actually driving it. Learning is fun.

The only reason I'm thinking about the shock relocate is because I'm looking at other suspension work... I need new leaf springs, so I might as well get good ones, which means lifting, which means extended travel shocks, so I might as well relocate the mounts and get the most travel I can, right?

    Right?

    Like @0xDEADBEEF said, scope creep...

I imagine welding and sewing share a lot of the same frustrations. I'm not all that great at sewing, and the long seams and heavy fabric on these curtains are a challenge for me. Lots of broken thread and I even managed to break a needle tonight.

Staying in bed on a cold Friday sounds pretty good, being sick does not.

Got a 7:30 am emergency meeting over bugs in software and customers that have been mercifully patient. I suppose I ought to make popcorn.
