Yep, I'm that old though my current DD is a 2002 I bought off the lot (3miles on the OD) in 2001. Haven't really worked on it since we had a "Tacoma guru" about 5 miles from my house, they closed shop, don't trust anyone else. Labor was cheap too, not so much anymore.
Did spend a lot of time and money on my new (10 miles) off the lot 1986 4wd Taco, paid 10K flat at the time but sold it @ 273,000 miles to a guy down the street for...11K. It had a few mods, well worth the transaction plus it had a new paint job and original stickers.

Now I have a ton of work to do on the "Pink Snake" since it clocked 100,000 last month and still have a lot of OEM parts on it with a wonderful belt squeal that wakes up the neighbours when I turn it over cold.

Found this place and...oh, do these boards still exist? Apparently so, I'm good with that and will be hopping forums to find info on getting the pully's off/loose/whatever it takes aside from a lot of drooling looking at mods everyone else has done.

    Cheers!

Ha! I am old, or at least I'm pretty sure of it. Best way to put it is: started wrenching and racing in 1974 when muscle cars were $300 to $500, we had a group of us that would mod out in ways no one ever dreamed of.
Haven't really stopped since then

Nope. It looks like crap right now. Had to store it for 6 months in a hay field uncovered (who covers a Taco?) though it did fire up first turn. Didn't doubt that for a second.
Need to at least detail it and maybe get a new paint job, then the 'before' and 'after' pics will go up. Right now you can get a peek of one of my OEM belts though

    Seasoned, not old.

You dont get old until you become unwilling to learn new things. And here you are!

I read most of those before signing up, needed to make sure the rabbit hole I was diving down would be the right one.

Too bad. Someone broke into my house while taking care of a friend that passed away recently and stole all my externals - with decades of pictures on them.
So - ya gotta wait cuz it's dark outside.
On 2nd thought, here is at least one of my garage queens that has nothing to do with Taco's. Drool if you must.98TA7-26-071.jpg

lmao - I'm old but still know where I am.
You just can't kill the gearhead in us no matter what we drive - the Taco is my DD and has been since 1986 :mudding:

This is the first thread ever on TW that has gone a little off topic.

I seriously just choked on a sip of water scrolling to that...
I'm old. If it feels like trolling then it usually is and a GM that is #14 of #44 is usually a quick way to end that no matter what the forum is

The white is iconic, totally love it. Had a black 97' TA Hawk for about 6 months, traded it for the rare purple one.
Kind of like "Gunmetal Gray" on the 86' Taco, I wish they would do that color again.
