blind spot monitor

my BSM system quit working a yr. ago or so, so its been turned off via the off/on button. so i back out of garage yesterday am. and the passenger side mirror is showing the BSM light on,, im thinking WTF.. turn button off and on a few times, and it stays on.. so i head to work and after 4 or 5 miles it starts blinking on and off, fading in and out, so it does this for about 4 or 5 miles then it finaly goes out,, after work i start it up and the same thing happens,, ??? im hoping it does not do it this am. when i head out to work.. can it be disconnected completly.. stupid thing..

 

Just a thought, did you ever flush out dirt and mud from the rear corner of your bumpers were the sensors are located?

 

Mine stopped working almost a year ago and have been turned off since. I just brought it to a dealer for repair because I’m the sucker that got talked into an extended warranty.

 

Mine just quit a week ago clean and flushed the bumpers now its going in.

 

i dont care that mine hasnt worked in over a yr,, its turned off, has been turned off for over a yr,, now the past 3 days, including tonight after work, i start it up and the passenger side BSD is lit up,, it comes off and on as im driving, very annoying. if its turned off why is it doing this, ??

 

There’s a TSB for water in the harness in the rear bumper.

 

Sounds like you have a short in the wires somewhere.

 

^This right here^ Took mine in when it stopped working and dealer fixed it right up took about 6 hours gave me a new Tundra to drive. Been working fine for about a year now.

 

yes i know there is a TSB. but tsb's , are covered under warrenty, my warrenty ran out..... mine went bad under warrenty, and was fixed, then quit working out of warrenty , so i just turned it off, now its flashing with it turned off,, ill have to unplug it i guess..

 

I don't know the TSB # but not all TSB's are only under warranty. Some TSB's go beyond the 3 year 36k mile warranty.

as stated above, quit working ovet a yr ago, and has been turned off via the off/on button.... i will take the panels off soon, in the meantime, its going to get a piece of black tape over annoyance

 

Just got it back from the shop. Took it in for speaker replacement on left side, blind spot monitor and tpms sensor issue, got it back speaker replaced, told that the aftermarket "genuine Toyota tpms modules" were not compatible from SR steel wheels. But back to the thread it said recalibrate blindspot monitoring sensors,. Not sure what to think , it works. As a side note after 3 miles it recognizes the tpms sensors, yes!
