Cause they know you will still buy a Toyota no matter the kind of wipers or whether cruise control is standard etc, then charge out the ass for them. They are leveraging their reputation for building high quality cars.

Good point Jeffrey B...just seems it would be cheaper for them to just offer the intermittent switch on all models rather than having to maintain a supply chain for each. Well it's done now, including the Plastic part removal tool the total cost was under 70 bucks, worth every penny IMHO.

That is why I think they are doing it to sell packages with the features that come standard on many cars. They can pull it off because people will buy toyotas either way because of their reliability record. It would be cheaper to maintain one supply chain especially considering they are probably about the same cost per part, but the extra revenue from selling those "upgraded" packages outweighs the costs.

I just feel bad for the 90% of people who get these with the crap wiper control and no cruise who don't know how easy and relatively cheap it is to put them in.

By far one of the simplest mod's !

As others have said: My Toyota Dealer Parts Department said "you can't do that: it won't work". Bought the Toyota 84652-02710 for just over $100.00 and swapped it into my 2013 Tacoma in less than 10 minutes.

The old control arm had Mist, Low, High and Spray
Now I have Mist, Intermittent with Variable Delay, Low, High and Spray

The one thing I LOST doing this mod':

Old control arm would Spray but not kick in the wipers
New one Sprays and then sweeps the wipers twice

I liked the old way as I could spray the grime on the windscreen and let it soak / soften before sweeping the wipers...

I have the same wiper you went to, I noticed that if you spray quickly instead of holding it down the wipers won't go. So you can soak it if you want.

I have a question. Asked a couple sellers on ebay and Amazon about the part number that ends in 710 and 610 and gave them my Vin number and they said that part didn't fit my 2015 taco prerunner. Was wondering if the part ending in 710 will actually work on my truck. Any info would help. I know this is a old thread but couldn't find any recent ones to write in.

    I used a 84652-02710 in my 2015 SR.

My truck isn’t an SR5 it’s just an SR. Mine is still a base model 4x4.

Second that SR is the base model. Also what I have, same part worked for me. I have no doubt the same part would work on any 2015 Tacoma anyway.

Finally got the intermittent wipers put on and they work great. Thanks for all the help here. In my opinion, best mod so far...
