TRD Pro/TRD Off Road Fender Flares?

Does anyone know if the black plastic fender flares on the Off Road and Pro models ready to paint? TIA!

They would need acid washed, stripped, appropriately primed and then you might get paint to stick.

So would i better off buying raw plastic fender flares and having them painted then?

 

It's more about how the plastic is made, plastic in general doesn't like paint, prep has to be done for adhesion.

Honestly you're probably better wrapping them.

 

Hmm that leads me to wonder what Toyota does in order to paint the fender flares on the other trim levels.

 

Acid wash, strip and prime appropriately, then uses a polyurethane based flexible paint of some sort or similar.

 

What colour are you wanting bro? Because I want those black OR flares. Mine are white off the TRD Sport if you wanna trade?

 

It seems like someone is always looking for the black plastic flares. So I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard to find someone here to trade with you.

But to answer your question, are they ready to paint? No. Are they easily paintable with good prep work? Yes

 

Painter here they can be painted. Proper prep and painting steps to have good adhesion.
