    Hi,

New member here. My Tacoma is in allocation due the first week of March. To be built is a white Off Road with cloth interior, no moon roof, etc.

This is my first Tacoma. I had a Ranger 4x4 and most recently a Ridgeline AWD. So I'm looking forward to driving a "real" truck:) Though the RL cashed in for more than I paid for it in 2019! So no complaints about it.

I have driven a few:) A new Off Road in white that my local dealer got in on Christmas Eve Which was on a Friday. They called me around 3 in the afternoon saying two identical Off Roads had just arrived. They were only marking them up 3k rather than the usual 8k (which included a 3' lift and bigger tires/wheels whether you want them or not). For the 3k over MSRP you just get the truck stock.

Anyhow I made it there Sunday morning the day after Christmas. Drove one and loved it. Hammered out an acceptable deal and decided to sleep on it (This was my pre-covid way of doing things). Came back Monday after work and both were sold. I was ignorant of the current state of affairs in the car business, but this was a hard education:)

I have test driven a few SR and SR5 since and while I liked them I'm still thinking about that white Off Road that got away. I test drove an Army Green Trail Edition and liked the way it drove. But I must be the only person that thinks Green and bronze don't go together. Hey if you love those colors great, just not for me:) I also test drove a Colorado ZR2 and it was cool but I'm still thinking of that white offroad. Drove a Nissan Frontier Pro-4x and liked it but it is all new for 2022 and I'm a little hesitant because of the bugs new models usually have. Drove a few used Tacomas including a pretty cherry Gen 2, but they are priced so high the new ones are a more attractive value. Man why did I hesitate on the white Off Road!

I scoured the internet and found dealers in Northern California selling at MSRP.......called them all looking for a white Off Road......and found one in allocation due for delivery in early March.......So yay!

This process has ended up saving me around 5k. Paying only MSRP (can't believe I am writing that) and selling my 2019 RL to the highest bidding dealer added up! This is assuming the OR shows up and things go smooth which I think they will. I judge the Salesman I am dealing with as an honest man and the dealer selling at MSRP in these times is highly ethical IMO.

S0 this is my story so far in the covid chip shortage times we are living in:) I really like this forum and already learned I better do the tail gate mod ASAP or it will cost 1k to replace it.

Thanks if you read all of this:)

Just another note. I also test drove a couple of Jeep Gladiators. The models with F/R lockers are out of my budget. But the Willy's edition was my target. I liked them fine but Jeep does not have Toyota's reputation for reliability. Plus they are really long and a tight fit in my garage.

Just be patient and inspect that truck before leaving that dealership lot! Congratulations!

Good suggestion! It has occurred to me that a checklist of items to go over on a new vehicle to help remember what to inspect. Has anyone heard of such a thing or do we need to make out own?

I mean mostly visual of what you can see
Check fluid levels check your tires your tailgate opening and closing ect. Hood open closing.
You could inspect every little thing or not its truly up to you. Id look for any dings scratches blemishes in paint and check al your windows ect.

Also, your truck will come with 4 of the bed cleats. They may be in the back seat area. Mine were under the back seats. If you aren’t aware already, the back seats fold up towards the front and there is a door below them. Mine were in the back rest spot. After you fold the seat rest forward you can pull the tab on the head rest side and there they were. The salesperson said they probably didnt give me any and had no clue…
