Yes I agree, though I appreciate the comments about the reality of this truck faithfully chugging along for a very long time.

It's great to have different opinions, that's why this forums rocks (except for the guy that called you all a bunch of fu##ing hypocrites. Unnecessary
Looks like he deleted his post:))

I brought up the idea of replacing the Honda with my wife and now she's all about it, and so am I.

I have 170k on my 2010. I never think about it breaking down. I also maintain it religiously. I think nothing of driving it to and back to a vacation home 500 miles away. I trust in more than a new Chevy or Ram.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
The 4.0 is proven, hell they wouldn’t have changed it if the EPA was crawling down everyone’s throat for better MPGs.

I own several yotas. From my experience I would keep your vehicle. My 3rd Gen is nice with its bells and whistles, but the motor and trans are blah.

Keep what you got, drive it and pass it on to the kid to learn how to drive in.

This, to me, was the best suggestion. Keep the truck, replace the unfit Fit with a Sienna...a very reliable family hauler. It was a long time ago but when my daughter was little my ex and I went the mini-van route - a Ford Aerostar. Very roomy, comfortable for long road trips, and very easy access to the little one in the second row. Being true to it's Ford nameplate it blew a head gasket at 3,000 miles, but the dealer cheerfully replaced it and we never had any other problems. You shouldn't have similar issues with a Sienna. If the Mrs is on board that's the way I'd go. Oh, and enjoy every single moment of their early years. It will go by in the blink of an eye.

Man hold on it. I love my 2007 with 300k and I have not issue driving it cross country. I love my taco minus the 17 mpg I get.

Firstly, congrats! We have one and one on the way in April. It's an awesome thing. The 3rd gen Tacoma seem to be rock solid trucks for light duty. There's a reason so many huge companies build out their fleets with them. Keep up with recommended maintenance and pay for the emergency assist feature on the higher-end models and you should cover all your bases. Good luck and congrats again!

OP - Save your money. Kids are really expensive. I have 22 and 20 year old daughters. They're still here and still costing me money...lol.

The nice thing about owning a car for a while you kinda know what to expect. I have kept cars for 14 years plus and as little as 2yrs because they are already causing me problems or been in a serious accident.

I had about 145k miles on my 2008 Tacoma when my buddies 2008 lost its tranny at a little over 150k miles. I had already been wanting a new truck, and decided I'd rather put money into a new one than into repairs on the old one. Found a barely used one at a Toyota dealership with 4k miles on it for $10k less than a brand new one and pulled the trigger.

If you can afford a new truck and it's not going to strain you financially, then go for it. Beyond the piece of mind of knowing a new truck is less likely to leave you stranded, the 3rd gens have a ton of safety features like blind spot monitors, lane departure warning, collision warning, adaptive cruise control and others that will keep you and the family safer.

Surprisingly, these 3rd gens might break on you on the road. If I were you, I would squeeze every cent out of the ‘12. As long as you keep up the maintenance which I think you’ve already been doing, it will still be strong. The big question is that can you even afford TWO BABIES at the same time?

It's a crappy time to sell and buy in my opinion. I'd hold onto it and just keep up with the maintenance.

    trust me......

Mama is gonna want a mini-van. Kids need so much supporting gear just for a simple outing.....diapers, snacks, extra clothes, butt wipes, stroller, car seat, toys.

A Sienna would be a good choice that would last many years.

Lemme guess...TPMS sensors dead and don't wanna pay the 600 bucks to get them fixed? Been there (2007 4runner). Opted out as well.

100%%% spot on. I just check my own tire pressure. I mean I live in the south so there's not that much fluctuation.

Its a Toyota and it only has 135k miles on it. Its just getting warmed up. Dont rid yourself of it for that. It will be fine. Besides in a year or so you may decide that you need a minivan or suv and can trade then.

Keep the truck.. save money for the kids. That truck can easily go for 300-500k mileage. Just do the maintenance.
